PC question - Lightening Bolt on Speakers - How do I delete the software thate makes that sound?

Every so often I get a ligtening bolt sound out of my speakers. I know that some one has sent it to me and I do not know where to find it on my computer and delete it. I have a buddy who is much better with computers than I and I am sure he sent this to me in an e-mail and I cannot find it to delete it. Your help would be very much appreciated.

The 'lightning bolt' sound you're hearing is a 'left-over sound' from a previous 'Desktop Theme'. You can either change desktop themes. Or go to CONTROL PANEL and click on SOUNDS and change the sound from the 'lightning bolt' to something more pleasing to ya :-)

Anyway, either there is some event (action on your part) that causes the sound if that's the case there is no way anyone can guess what that action is... The other possibility is that there is a TSR program running.
A TSR is a piece of software that once loaded, runs in the background quietly.

Close all open programs.
Including those ones down in the taskbar.
Press ctrl-alt-del...
Click on the processes tab...
One of those things is your thunder creating program.
Which one is it?
Who know.
Take a guess.
You will not hurt anything by ending task on these processes.
Windows will warn you with a scary sounding, "Are you sure" but don't be frightened. The absolute wost thing that could happen is you shut your computer down.
If you can isolate the process that causes the thunder - then you are home free, google it and figure out what it is.
Then either open the program and configure it not to annoy you anymore - or uninstall it completely.
Actually you may be able to figure out what it is just by reading your add/remove programs list (found in control panel).

Also - your friend did not email this program as you imagine.
Email does not work that way.
It's something that would have had to have been installed as a desktop application.
