All e-mails, Usenet posts, and IMs leave a trail. If you do something that causes trouble and Comcast tracks it back to your neighbor's IP address, the neighbor might have an alibi (not home, computer dead, logged on to worksite, etc). Then they'd start looking for someone using a wireless connection to the neighbor's wireless hub -- and that's you! The penalty for theft of service is usually full price of the service for the duration you could have be using it (whether you did on not), sometimes multiplied for damages.
Why not just ask the neighbor about using some of their bandwidth? If you chip in a few $$ a month, they'd probably even let you have your own e-mail address. Much cheaper than fines and court costs!

How are you getting your Internet? If one of your neighbors is running a router without firewalling it I wouldn't worry about it. I have Insightbb cable and I route the signal all over my house. Insight doesn't care how many computers I run off their signal and while they claim they won't give support they do. They will allow me 5 email addresses (I think). If one of your buddies has given you their dialup number and password I still think you will be ok as long as not more than one of you at one time is logged on.

You do know that the goverment tracks your everymove on the interent right? they do. They can tell bc if they do know there is ways other then comming in your house to see if you can get online. they have ways of doing it. if they can find out if you are stealling cable they will know if you are stealling internet connections. IF you can get 20 years for stealing cable im sure it is the same or more for stealing internet access.

Are you a juvenile? if so, on an analogous time as detention center is a available sentence it quite is not going for a common offense. in basic terms are not getting in difficulty returned, rather between now and the trial. Get a lawyer in case you may or communicate on your public defender.

My dear, in Singapore, a teen has been recently caught and now face court charges and his story is on front page.
It shock me but I must admit tapping to others' wireless access is illegal and not correct. Really, u wouldn't wish others to tap into yours isn't it. Others did doesn't mean its ok. Just like sharing or downloading of mp3.
