you always have to balance mercy and justice. you can't have one without the other.

There is NEVER a good time to refrain from mercy, but being merciful does not need to mean giving in to bad behavior or indulging someone with bad habits or bad ideas nor does it mean placing yourself or others into abusive or dangerous circumstances unless God specifically is calling you in that direction for some specific purpose (You'd need to be very sure of the Spirit's leading in these circumstances). Blessed are the merciful. That is always! The Beatitudes are clear. By the way, when being merciful your end up far more blessed than the person to whom you show mercy. God's great this way.

why would you think of refraining from mercy?

in our time, i think what we need now is great mercy to sustain our living..

if our neighbors know no mercy, they might have been throwing garbages to your yard..

if our parents know no mercy, how could students learn love?

and if God knows no mercy, then heaven would be so spacious for Him alone..

mercifuls receives more mercy or blessings or gifts in return for the Provider know that they won't have all for themselves. yes, the more mercies you had, the more you are likely to share it to others..

Although I suppose that we should always show mercy, I have to say I would find it hard to show mercy to someone like Bin Laden or Hitler. I have to admire the Amish community in Pennsylvania that reached out to the family of that shooter. I can't honestly say that I could do the same.

If you define mercy as compassion and understanding, no. I can't think of a time to refrain from either.

I would find it difficult to refrain from mercy if any of my family was ruthlessly slaughtered.

This isn`t correct. It is:Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy, said Jesus

No harm, I am showing you mercy, and I mean this jokingly.

scorpions
I've been stung twice in same spot on my thumb. It swelled up so much, I had to take a course of steroids and antibiotics to bring it down.
They're nasty critters.
They come into my house, and SQUASH!!!
No mercy.
