If Jesus said it and it's in the Bible, than it must be true. After all, that city is the city that killed him.

Jesus used hyperbole. The religious leaders in his day were
so hypocritacal and ungodly, that he said that Sodom and
Gomorrah had a better chance than them. He used an exageration to show just how evil those religious leaders were,
everyone knew of the destruction of those 2 cities and the reason
why. They were destroyed so completely that to this day,
archeologists cannot find the exact location, their best guess
is perhaps under the Dead Sea. This kind of total destruction
perfectly pictures the judgment of those religious leaders, who,
having the responsibility to lead the people and prepare them
for the coming of the Messiah, instead refused to recognize
the Christ despite all the evidence to his veracity. Instead they
plotted and schemed to murder him and those who were
miraculously healed by him. They put up barriers to keep the
nation of Israel from accepting Jesus as the Messiah . They
definitely deserve total destruction just like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Jesus was actually referring to Capernaum not Jerusalem. He was referring to the fact that had he performed the miracles in Sodom and Gomorrah that he had done in Capernaum, Sodom and Gomorrah would have repented. Before you criticize ancient Jerusalem remember that we have even more knowledge than they did. And on a side note to a previous answer; Jesus was crucified which was a Roman style of execution. The Jews of that time had no authority to kill anyone. Also all men are responsible for his death not just Jews.

In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot receives two disguised angels as guests. A mob comes which wants to rape the angels. Lot, being the decent guy he is, offers the mob his daughters to rape.

Why was Lot spared? That was kind of a lousy thing to do, no?

Weren't those cities burned to ashes long ago by the fiery wrath of god? I don't think they will get another chance considering they have long ceased to exist.
