If people have to legitimately spit on the ground, and they don't aim it at anyone,is that still a disrespectful action?I see people spit on the ground all the time.

Well Chris, I was raised to believe that it was considered poor manners to spit in anyones presence. Of course that precludes being in the Dentists chair. :)

I don't think spitting on the ground is disrespectful. Taking a wizz over your neighbors fence and aiming for his dog while it's running around the yard, maybe.

well its gross and not "gentlemanly" but since this is in the military section of questions...i can tell you from experience that it is not an acceptable action when in formation.it is quite disrespectful towards the person in charge of the formation. it wouldnt be a good idea to do it when people who are of higher rank are near by (who you dont work for immediately i.e. first sergeant, csm, cdr) or are in your battalion, brigade (whatever you are assigned to) command headquarters. not a good idea to do that at all.
