ok so I like this guy given I know. He likes my friend and I use to like his, but i don't think he knows that. Anyway last time I liked a guy I got hurt so what do I do to keep this from happing?

just see what he does around u. does he act out of character, be more nice to u, stare at u and other things

The best way to know is observation. Does he give you attention more than others? Does he remember things you say? Does he seem to care about you? Guys usually do not take the time to do these things unless they have an interest.

Spend more time with him. Try to show him that you like him, by flirting. See how he responds. If he starts calling you or making excuses to see you then you got it. See how he stares at you, what his eyes tell you.
