The meaning of life is a big question. Throughout the begining of time your questions have been asked in a thusand different languages and a thousand different ways. i will tell you how I feel about it. Life is very complicated and complex. But at the end of the day the main purpose is for the world to keep on spinning and for people to be born, live love and die. (there is also room for heros and gratifications and enjoying life but the basic concept is that) during this life time human beings get a chance to learn from life and to do good and be as fair and reasonable as possible. When they die their essence of themselves will go to heaven like places to be with loved ones until such a time as they are called again, (reincarnation). Every person has a purpose in life and is guided by special guides to assist them in their purpose hence guardian angels and spirit guides and people's experiences of being assisted on their journey (I have some questions posted in Mythology and Religion the answers are very interesting. The point of living is to achieve our purpose (whatever that might be) and the consequences of that) and people are in my oppinion here for a reason and there are no coincidences. The purpose may be to learn something, teach something, help somebody(s) to learn or teach etc. After death there is an after life and no one can tell me there is not a after life due to the many accounts of life after death experiences and near death experiences. These afterlife places are whatever they are for us but they do exist and you would need to speak with people and read some new age books but the accounts are very diverse and real. I am sure that the existence of heaven and hell are very personal to the individual and the judgement of these a very complicated process. (I have a question on past lives and reincarnation in the mythology section and some of the answer are pretty interesting). I believe there are god(s) and their procedures and processes very unique to this diverse world but please be assured there is a reason why we are all here. there are no easy answers to your questions but I am sure you will find a view out there that fits your own ideals and experiences and one that will help you on your life journey
Confusion is a good state of mind to learn and to help others learn. there are lots of interesting books out there that can help to put some of your questions into perspective. The new age section of a bookshop is a good place to start on your quest for enlightenment. All of us at some time or another have asked the same questions and gradually through experience and time have found answers that suit our own views and ideal. My view may not be satifactory to you and I do not profess it to be a right answer but my ideas that I have shared with you feel ok to me. Good luck in your searchings and God bless.

Life is to be enjoyed, but not like this. God created us to live forever on Earth, humbly worshipping Him. Heaven and hell exist but it's not what you think it is. Heaven is not the place where we go when we die. Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 shows that when we die, that's it. however, tthere are many scriptures which hold out the hope of a physical resurrection onto the Earth. hell is just the common grave of mankind, it is not a fiery place of torment. This is what hell originally meant, but being an old word which no-one knows the meaning of, it has been hijacked by religious leaders to describe a ficticious place of torment.

Life has no intrinsic meaning. This is far more interesting for the adult brain than any religious nonsense, which is patronising and expects you to be "child-like" ie gullible and easily manipulated. You really must stand on your own two feet, admit there is no such thing as a god, an afterlife, a heaven. There is just the world as we see it, nothing else. And do not consider that you need help. Stop looking for meaning. Read philosophy, science and literature. Stay away from holy books unless they admit on their very first page that they are making it up as they go along.

I am sorry that you are so confused. It is not nice to be lost. Yes there is a God. Yes there is a heaven and a hell. You were created by God and for God. Your purpose in life is to glorify him and enjoy a relationship with him forever. There is a good book about this that you can find at Christian book stores. I assure you that after you read this book, you will understand your purpose. It is called "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.

Are we speaking spiritually, metaphysically, or just on the whole cognitive notion of life and the afterlife? I guess to me the meaning of life is simply to live and breath is divine. Be happy with who you are and what you have accomplished, let it be something spectacular or something as simple as digging a hole you accomplished something and what you do does define you. Is there a god? I'd have to say yes. I'm not going to define him/her as Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, Mohammad, Jesus, Zeus, or any other Deity we have created thus far. But I do believe there is a higher being at work in our lives. Let it even be Gaea "Mother Earth" something beyond ourselves and science is at work and at play. I'd have to say that in life there are opposites so thus if there is a heaven there must be an equal and direct opposite which must be hell. Do we go back in some karmic circle or does it just end where it began, as was once said, "dust to dust." I'm alittle confused on that myself, but I definitely hope that their is a heaven because I think that its a grand idea to be able to show something for your lifetime of good deeds. But who knows, the only thing I find being true is that the point of living is to LIVE!!! So let life take you by the hand live your life to the fullest extent you can. Doing good to yourself and unto others around you... I hope this little existential rambling helps...

Every now and again, we hear the clichéd question, ‘What is the meaning of life?’ or “What is the purpose of life’ or ‘Why are we born’. In most cases, we have our own agenda on what our purpose in life is. However from a spiritual perspective, there are two generic reasons why we are born. These reasons define the purpose of our lives at the most basic level. They are:
To complete the give-and-take account we have with various people
To make spiritual progress with the final aim of merging into God and therefore getting out of the cycle of birth and death.

I'm sorry to say that there is no confirmed theory for any of your questions. However, many people have come up with ideas on the meaning of life/death. I'm afraid it's a case of waiting, and trying not to worry or think about it too much.

I 've come across this questions so many times and answered it at length so many times that as a last resort I must refer to the wisdom from an alternative source. The meaning of life and the point of living is '42'.
