I'm not sure about the camcorder, but I use iMovie HD on my mac to edit and it's amazing. Like the user above me, he said final cut pro, which is another excellent more advanced software.
You can purchase the software on apple.com or search around the web for better offers. Check out ebay.com if you're on a budget.
