it's been in there maybe a month and a half, opened, but the date is like months away from now, but since i opened it, is it spoiled?

It is very high in acid which is a preservative. I use Prego and if there is no signs of mold (don't shake before you open) especially check the cap, it's fine, just bring it to a boil and keep it on boil for a minuite or two, but when in doubt throw it out especiall if you have put less then clean utensils in the jar. I have gone about two months before I threw it out.

You sound like me..keeping stuff in fridge too long. Throw it out now instead of later. My fridge when out this past weekend and you would not believe the jars of stuff I FOUND when emptying it out with LONG past due dates. Also had a half jar of spaghetti sauce in there. lol Now it is mostly empty and I have promised myself to keep better track of my food and not be so wasteful. Why we put dabs of leftovers up, just to eventually throw them away?

I wouldn't eat it. You should eat pasta sauce within a week of opening up the jar.

Throw it out.
In any case Prego make a lousy sauce. Shop around for something better - preferably in a shop that makes Fresh Pasta.

Does it have some green furry stuff growing on it ? If so put the green, furry stuff on your spaghetti and throw the damned Prego out. You should never feed such garbage to your family.

It would be rotten with bacteria by now so through it out. I'd get some new sauce for your spag bol if that's what you want to do for dinner.

Yes, it is spoiled. It usually is only good for 3-5 days after being opened, even if it's refrigerated.

Tomatoes are very acidic and you wouln't want to eat it now that it has sat opened, even refrigerated! The date is the "best buy...." if unopened!

Not a good idea to eat anything after two weeks, but most will last 3-4 days. but I'm sure it won't kill you

Just dump it. It's not worth getting sick over, you don't need tomato sauce to have good pasta.
