OH! How many times do we go around with this one.

You can't PROVE a negative honey. Can you PROVE to me that Invisible Space Monkeys don't control the earths weather patterns? Can ya? Hmmm? Well then, they MUST exist!

While under normal circumstances, one cannot prove the non-existence of something, some feel that a truly omnipotent God is inherently contradictory, and could not exist due to this contradiction.

Let me give you an example : Can God create a rock that he cannot lift? If He can create a rock he can't lift, it means there is something that He cannot do. Similarly, if He can't create a rock He can't lift, the end result is the same - there is still something He can't do. In either case, that would effectively limit His omnipotence.

thousands of children will Die in India from starvation this year yet Sally Joe Sue from Denver will thank god for answering her prayer to save her grandfather after doctors work night and day to replace some heart valves.

That disproves any sort of righteous christian God as far as I'm concerned...but don't worry, people that believe in that god already forgot about the idea of the other country being REAL by the time they finished this paragraph.

if there IS a god, U prove it.
and while ur at it prove the easter bunny, and catch me Santa, i got a present distribution issue.

"look around you","read the bible", the banana video someone else linked to, and anything of the sort does NOT cut it as proof outside the insane asylum.

i don't mean to insult u, but this is getting tedious.

Yes. Without a doubt. But I just may not be able to prove it to people who have faith that there is a god, only to those who want to approach the issue with a rational mind.

OOh, it's been like 3 hours since someon asked this!!! Umm, ok let me think...

We can't prove it, I can't even prove that gravity will function tomorrow. I can only show evidence.

How does one reconcile omnipotence, omnibenevolence and omniscience with this world and the life on it. And, why are there so many billions of people living in entire, huge countries whose culture has nothing remotely like the xian god and jesus. Here is a post I did before on the topic:

Because I look at what life was like for human beings for the past 40,000 years (maybe 6,000 for you). People lived for an average of 30-40 years. More than 50% of children died before age one (until about 100 years ago!). I look at thousands of children permanently blinded by parasites they get from playing in creeks in underdeveloped countries.

Then I look at children of modern developed countries, of any religion. I see that they live until their EIGHTIES!! Have all their teeth for a very long time. Have excellent health, etc... And I see that this has nothing to do with religion or god. It is medicine and science. So was it god's plan that hundreds of generations of people would suffer and die in their 40's and suddenly in the 19th and 20th century, everything would get better?

That's nothing other than sadistic.

I also look at all the different gods and interpretations of these gods for the past 4,000-5,000 years. I see how silly it is to point to one religion in the roman era and say "Ah, THIS is the correct one!"

I also posted this in answer to that question:
* The bible has many contradictions
* The bible shows the OT god to be violent and bloodthirsty. He also kills thousands of children.
* For thousands of years, man has had a lifespan of 30-40 years. 100 years ago in the US, 50% of children died before age 1. Modern medicine has greatly reduced this. During eras in western history when the catholic church was in charge and belief in god and church attendance was required, this did not change. So prayer seems not to have been the answer.
* The history of religions and gods seems to show that man has no consistent image or view of what god is or does.
* The bible is open enough to interpretation that if you walked into a church and asked 3 people questions about the bible or god's will, you would get probably 8 different answers.
* People kill each other in god's name every day and he apparently does nothing to stop it.
* 50% of conceptions do not result in birth
* 1 in 8 pregnancies result in twins and one twin is eventually reabsorbed.
* Children are born with no brains, with no limbs, retarded, blind.
* Children go blind from parasites every day, children suffer asthma, and other diseases

Notice I focus on CHILDREN, not adults so please don't tell me that millions of children are dying b/c god wants us to have free will. These children barely have free will yet and toddlers don't have it at all.

Trust me, little one, this line of thinking alienates the people you are trying to convince because a) its confrontational right off the bat. have some respect for people you don't know. b) it makes the assumption that they haven't heard or thought of this before. because it has been posted ad nauseum on this board. I'm sure a thousand "similar" questions came up when you typed out your question. so c) don't insult people's intelligence.

... The fact that there's no proof for your side besides a dusty old book of hypocritical fairy tales written by a bunch of chauvinistic haters pretty much says that there is no higher being. By the way, try hitting that "Check Spelling" button up there. It's spelled ATHEIST, you dumb monkey!
