hes only in one of my classes but i pass by him during one of the passing periods. so i see him only twice a day. and he's looked at me once in a while and i look back at him. i have this feeling he likes me a little but were in a totally different group. he's a little bit of everything, the jocks, band(but he's not geeky), popular people. and im in a totally different group as him. im afraid of what our peers will think. should i even think of having a chance with him?

Just talk to the guy. Maybe make a sarcastic, funny comment to him in class one day and see where it goes from there. Your friends will not care nearly as much as you think they will. At your age we all tend to over-dramatize the impact of our every move. In reality they may even find out the guy is pretty cool. Definitely take a chance and talk to him.

There is nothing like the pressure of the high school social ladder it can be very intimidating...but every once in a while the chain is broken and people who actually like each other for who they are instead of what they were and the group they are in, end up being together. Take a cahnce do not exactlly come out and say oh hey I like you but start a converstion with him about class or something...you may have more in common than you think.

do you ever see a jock dating a goth girl? or a stoner dating a student council girl? or a nerd dating a cheerleader?
people say "opposites attract". well that's true at first. but later on, they learn that all they have is differences and nothing in common.
you could give it a try with him, it might work. but the peer preessure thing might get in the way.

The easiest answer is just to be bold.. normally i say to forget social cliches, but they are unavoidable and I understand the differences. If it is REALLY worth it then go for it. Find out a little about him. If you can't be his friend you can't be his girlfriend.
