She could be viewing the puppy pads as an acceptable place to go, remove them and see if she sticks to the bell.

Same here! Unless no one takes her out, my dog will go outside. She has a bell, and she rings it. She hasn't had an accident in a while, but I understand accidents do happen. You will know if your dog is housebroken when they only go in the house in an emergency; i.e. no one took her outside to do her business.♥

That's awesome that your little 8 month old rings the bells to go potty! I tried to teach my little pug/boston to do this...and he looked at me like I just grew a third arm.

I would highly recommend crate training your little one rather than use puppy pads. The pads teach pups that it's actually OK to go potty on the floor INSIDE as long as there's something there (like an errant newspaper or magazine etc). But you're definitely on the right track! If you ever catch your little one about to go, pick her up as fast as you can, place her outside and say, "outside, potty outside...good girl!" And when she goes, praise her, jump around like a clown and act all happy. If she doesn't go, it's okay. Just keep repeating, "outside...potty outside...good girl." As long as you catch her in the act, and promptly place her outside, she'll understand.

Good Luck!!!

Wee wee pads give her the ok to eliminate in the house. If she is trained to ring a bell to go out to go to the bathroom, remove the pads.... when he no longer messes in the house, she's housebroke.

My pom is just about your pup's age and she hasn't had a "real" accident in about 3 months now (I say real accident because she was sick and then had some diarrhea). So cute about the bell! My pup just goes to the door and if no one comes soon she'll then whine and even bark.
