It confuses me why Christians think the crucifixion of Jesus was more special than the death of many other people in history. There are millions that have died defending their country, their beliefs, and the welfare of mankind in general. Jesus wasn't the only one that died for man's "sins".

The death of Jesus the messiah had been fortold for almost 3500 years before he came and suffered the cross and the fire of hell. His life was not about beng healing, it was not about opening the blind eyes, it was not about teaching men how to pray. His life was about bring man back into right relationship with God the Father. Why is his death so special! It is special because he has paided the penalty for the sins of the whole world. He has paid the price for anyone who believes on him to once again be restored before the God of all mankind. There are no other ways to God. Jesus is the only way to the father. Jesus is the only begotton son of God. Jesus came out of the father and became flesh and suffered death and did not sin. Thus he died with-out having sin. He was rewarded for this and we who believe in him have already been rewarded but shall for all our days on the earth and beyond.
Yes there are men who died for there country. But were they live and die with out sin! Did have have power over the natural elements and over the supernatural elements. Did they die and then come back to life and were they witnessed by 500 people after dieding on a cross. Did the prophets write about them and then did there lives line up with the teaching of the prophets. Did they even do anything execpt be men. Jesus is GOD in the flesh.
Jesus is the expression of God reaching our to mankind in mercy. This man who is called the messiah was more then mere man. Jesus is God and he was fully men. He is the well spring of salvation and he is also the Judge of all men. Jesus is the answer to the curse of sin in the earth. He is way to God the father.

To believe that Jesus died for our sins, you must first believe in original sin. That is that every human is born in sin. God created life as we know to be a place where free thinking humans can love him of there own free will. Many Christians believe that God knows everything we do before we do it. If that is true then why would God create life if he already knew Adam would defy him and thus he would have to curse the rest of mankind. Angels do not have free will and cannot genuinely love God. If Jesus died for our sins then what about all of the people that died before the Jesus. They did not have the chance to know Jesus and as Christians say to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal savior. You must say these words and believe them in order to go to heaven, according to Christians. Jesus died for the message he was trying to send to man. This message will save man and not the fact that Jesus blood was spilled for our sins.

Three things made Jesus special:

1) He is the only begotten Son of God.

2) He never sinned (and is totally incapable of sinning.)

3) He came only to save mankind.

Everyone else who ever lived was a sinner, and rightly subject to the penalty of death for their sin(s).

Satan had the authority to put to death anyone who had sinned, but he had no authority over Jesus, the sinless Son of God.

But Satan couldn't help himself, so he arranged the execution of Jesus at the hands of the pagan Romans.

Jesus permitted it to be done to him.

Satan had no authority to do so, and so commited a great crime against the Son of God, which led to Satan being stripped of all that he had earlier gained, when he swindled Adam, in the Garden of Eden.

Mankind was subsequently freed from slavery to Satan, sin, and death.

Jesus was raised from the dead, and is the new, sinless, and eternal head of all mankind.

All those who faithfully swear their allegiance to Christ may be saved.

Swearing allegiance to any other ... god or man ... just won't do it.

Certain things will be hyped for the existence of some other organisation or groups. Just like the media. If they didnt get anything for the day, they will make the pregnancy of a celeb a big thing.. that is for their existence.. Similarly It is all done for the existence of church. If you carefully read the bible, one could genuinely doubt whether he was really dead on that day ..

To some answers given in this context : As per anna, if that is the case, then lazer have also came back to life .. does any body give importance to his death.
How can we say that Jesus died because of the sins of the people are yet to be born.. difficult to belive. It is just like the people die for their country. They can claim that they died for the people of country. Similarllly jesus also died for the uplift ment of the society that followed him.. Rest all are the hype of the Church for its existence.. I am fiem beliver in christ. But strongly believe that the passport to heaven is not with the church or clergy.. I tries to follow christ and i dont mind in these things and also in matters like virginity of mary etc..

Jesus was God's Son. The others were not. Jesus is the only one whose blood sacrifice can cover our sin. He is the only one sitting at the right hand of the Father God in Heaven continually making intercession for us. That makes His sacrifice more important and makes Him special to me. It also helps that I have a personal relationship with Him and talk to Him on a daily basis. I don't know the others.

The death, Resurrection, Ascension, Glorification, are all one event. Jesus' death was/is unique; in faith I say Jesus is God. This gives him a special place in history.

Merry Christmas!

I believe in God, the Father Almighty
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

God became sinless man to die on the cross to save whole of sinful humankind and gives the whole of humankind eternal life and a place in heaven only by believing without paying anything to receive it. This is very special.

What is "death" to an eternal being anyway? He was "dead" for 3 days. But "Jesus had a bad weekend for your sins" just didn't play well with the marketing dept.

But Christians believe He is the only begotten Son of God and that God sent Him specifically to die for us. That is why he as born, and why he died.
Yes, others have died DUE to the sins of humankind and for their beliefs, but He (Jesus) is the only one that can bring salvation to humankind THROUGH death.
