hmmmmmmm... scripture... try Isaiah 40, esp 1-5:

1 Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the LORD's hand
double for all her sins.

3 A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD [a] ;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God. [b]

4 Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.

5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
and all mankind together will see it.
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Wikipedia has a bunch of good information on background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent

This website has some prayers: http://www.cptryon.org/prayer/adx/adwreath.html I haven't read it completely, but it should give you a decent start.

Good luck! Blessings.

In the old testiment God said i will have a people who are not my people and i shall be there GOD and they shall have no need that man should teach them for i shall teach them myself.
The teaching of the advent is man made and is not from God. There is not tridition supporting the advent. Nor did the prophets fortell it as being from God. It is pagan is form and not of Christ nor is it supported in his scripture. Sin not least he hold you accountable to the sin which is laid to your charge.
