I read some funny dog stories a while ago and they all made me smile. I hoped that there would also be some cat stories for cat lovers like me!

When I lived in Japan, I had 2 bobtail cats living with me in a very small home. So small, that every inch was utilized.

We stored the bag of cat food and the bag of kitty litter on top of the refrigerator for lack of another place.

Upon coming home one day, we found one cat on top of the refrigerator amidst the bags of litter and cat food which the cats had shredded to bits. They had somehow also knocked the kitty litter over "just right" making it spill the contents on the floor.

The one cat on top continued eating hurriedly before he got yanked down from the fridge. The other cat nonchalantly went to the pile of cat litter on the floor and proceeded to poop in defiance right in front of us!

Another time, we thought the "defiant one" had gotten out of the house since she was nowhere to be found. She was always very good about coming when we called her. It wasn't until we sat down in the living room a while later that we found her.... crammed inside the glass stereo cabinet, sitting there just looking at us like we were idiots for not finding her.

In another escapade after moving back to the US, we took a few days vacation over Christmas and left the 2 cats in our finished basement...newly finished basement...of a rental we had just moved in to. When we returned after the 2 days, we couldn't find the cats, but could hear them. It sounded like they were in the heating vents!

Upon further investigation, we found a small area where the ceiling had not been finished that they had managed to jump up in to...basically putting them between the basement ceiling and the upstairs floor. If that wasn't bad enough, the male cat decided to walk across the insulation rather than the rafters, and he fell into wall!

We had to demolish 2 walls in our BRAND NEW bathroom to find him. He was fine, but we had to rebuild the bathroom, repaint it and re-wallpaper all without the owners of the house knowing it!

I once had a cat that ran into the oven while some chicken was being made. My mother didnt see it happen and so she had closed the oven door. She realised it very quickly, opened the door, and the cat came running out with his tail smoking! It was so hilarious! If only it had been recorded - probably could've been on funniest home videos or something...

the cat was fine of course.

One of the weirdest things my youngest cat has done lately is perch on one of the dining room table chairs bent over trying to catch her own tail through the holes in the chair back. She does have good balance, but it looks really funny.

She will also do backflips if she sees a moth on the ceiling, and tries to jump up to it. If one of my kids pick her up while she is hunting the moth, she will climb up the wall stretching herself so she can get to the moth, while climbing around the trimming to whatever direction the moth has moved to.

Over Thanksgiving she growl - hiss - and - ate all at the same time protecting her lttle piece of turkey from my fat cat that is twice her size. He backed away eventually after trying to sneak up when she wasn't looking.

My kitten, Honey, a couple months ago I had bought her a squeaky mouse, that hangs on a string, from KMart, and one day, I think about almost a week she had this toy, she tore it off the string, and came downstairs from our room with the mouse in her mouth.

And then, with her first vibrating porcupine, pull the tail and it moves across the floor, she starts throwing it around up in the air and catching the darn thing. She had a ball with both of these toys.

Oh! And one time she tossed the porcupine up on the bed, that we both, but mostly I, sleep on. And she also did that with a string duster I had her playing with for a while.

Problem is coming up with funniest thing. I have multiple cats, and that can make the choice difficult. They all very smart and do some stuff I never expected. Maybe one habit would amuse you folks. I have one who will not eat his nighttime can, unless he gets to pick it out. Don't ask me how he arrives at the decision, but I have to offer some alternatives and the one he rubs his fae against is the one he will eat. Not the others. I've tried switching to try to fool him and it doesn't work. He wants the one his has picked and you can't confuse him.

my cat Mouse once caught a little bat flying around my little sisters room and pounced from the top of a tall dresser, hit the bat onto the bed, and treated it like a baby kitten. it was the sweetest thing ive ever seen, yet the oddest that a cat would care for a small mouse sized flying rodent. lol

I have a very small cat who was nearly starved when I found her and she will get our socks out of the clean laundry basket (I roll them military style) and put them in a circle around her water bowl. It's very weird to find five or six pairs of socks like that. Sometimes she puts them in the water. What a mess! But funny as heck.

My cat hates still water(water in a bowl) so i have to give him water dripping down in the sink. He also sleeps there alot. One time when my sister was sitting on the footstool in my living room(my cat's favorite spot) my cat jumped up and pushed her off the seat. At first we thought my sister fell but my cat really pushed her and took a nap on the footstool we bursted out laughing.

My tabby learned how to open doors. Real doorknobs, not just lever-style doors. He used to sit on a night table next to my bedroom door and paw at the knob all night, until I yelled at him for the noise. One night he kept doing it, and I heard a 'pop', and realized the door was open and he was gone! I finally had to put a child-safe cover on the handle so he couldn't open the door anymore. He's too smart for his own good!
