The boy scouts openly prohibits homosexuals and atheists from joining their organization, which would normally be fine with me (any private club should be allowed to let in whoever they want as members) except that the boy scouts are government funded which goes against the first amendment of the constitution. Also no government organization should be denying any citizen (emphasis on CITIZEN) membership at all. Do you disagree? It seems to me that Christians only like the first amendment when it’s convenient for them. Am I wrong? I’d like to be wrong about the last one, but I don’t think I am.

There is a lot of government funding going into the boy scouts and I know it. Give me a few minutes and I'll prove it. Just give me a sec

This is going to be my last entry (I swear):

First off, I want to say that I support the boy scouts. I think they are a wonderful organization that has strayed from their original path. I think it is important to let people know what’s going on so that they get angry and do something about it. I don’t want the boy scouts shut down, I want this policy changed so that innocent atheist boy can join with their friend and don’t have to feel excluded and persecuted at such a young age. I also think it’s important to stand up for my homosexual brothers and sisters, because their rights matter too.

Amendment I
CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
(Read the part all in Caps: that doesn’t exclude government funding)

I am a Christian and I disagree with that. Just because someone is gay doesn't give people the right to exclude them for everything. As Christians we should accept people whether they are gay or not. No one is perfect.

No it would not The tax exempt status is a central authority waiver which must be petitioned meaning that each enterprise is in thought taxable, which does no longer deny the existence or operation of the enterprise in question, ergo the liberty to ascertain an enterprise/faith is genuine and alive That the government makes a tax exemption and gadgets regulations, is it relatively is government prerogative, which does no longer violate the separation of church and state you may no longer elect this as a discrimination the two. evaluate you have 10 ppl that are in debt with you (TAX) and you placed a level with the aid of which you will come to a decision to pardon the debt (tax exemption) in case you return to a decision to waiver 8 out of 10, it is your business enterprise, you're no longer obliged to (i'm unlikely into the incontrovertible fact that politics can/will impression the alternative in awarding tax exempt status, yet it is not on the midsection of the "separation" question) Btw i do no longer stay interior the U. S., purely an ex regulation student Peace Edit I forgot to show that "the separation of state & church", is basically a thought which could variety a great deal from state to state or united states of america to united states of america do no longer fool yourselves, the two have been super fans interior the previous, and the two attempt to rule your lives, the church could have been "formally" banned from place of work, yet remains an significant political party. The evidence is, in all that the Atheists are bitching related to right here on YA 24/7,they had be happy if all ties have been severed Peace

I love you. I knew that the boy scouts didn't allow gays to become members, but I didn't know that they denied Atheists entry. This is illegal and if anyone sued them for it I'm sure the boy scouts would have to change their policies or reject the government funding. Christians want a Christian nation. The Christian disregard for the 1st Amendment seems a lot like Muslims not allowing Christians certain freedoms in their countries.

There is no government protection, at least not in the first amendment, for homosexuals (it's usually considered a privacy issue and protected elsewhere). I thought, though, that they had dropped government funding over something else, I don't remember what, but I could be wrong. But I agree, if it is government funded, then my tax dollars are involved, and I do not want my tax dollars funding a religion (they get enough of a free ride as it is).

The Boy Scouts dropped Government funding about 12 years ago when the Government tried to force them to accept gay leaders.

The Boy Scouts have the right to keep homosexuals and atheists from joining their organization. Also, separation of church and state isn't in the Constitution.

I support the Boy Scouts no matter what anyone says. They are a wonderful organization that has had a fantastically great influence on boys. The boys pick up good values because they feel accountable to God and because they have good role models.

Look on a dollar bill...you see where it says "one nation under God"?
In a democracy.....51% of the population control the future of 100% of the population. The majority gets what it wants in a democracy.
The majority of the population believes that homosexuality is wrong and that open, flagrant atheism is shameful. They vote.

Last I checked, the Boy Scouts recieved NO government funding, they are a private org., and often a off shoot of the Mormon church.

If its private, they can deny anyone they choose.

perhaps the atheists and homosexuals should create their own scouting group and prevent only the christians from joining.
