Im 52 and this is pretty popular with my generation for some reason. I dont understand it, but it is. With your ages, she's facing an empty nest and dont want to admit it. Perhaps you and your sister should have another heart to heart with her. Remind her about those wonderful nightly 2am feedings and of course those midnight-4am floor walks with the colics and whooping coughs. She cant go out to the movies or a quick lunch or dinner with her friends because she'll have to drag the baby along because for certain you and your sister will be in college, married, moved out or on a date?? Just keep piling it on. And how about your dad? Where does he figure in all this? He has to live thru it, too. Jump on his case with these memories also ... another college fund to get ready, a bunch of guys hanging around if its a girl or car insurance jumping up if a boy. Good luck!

If she can get pregnant that sure if that is what she wants. And younger women have more down syndrome babies that older women. It is not next to impossible for a 47 year old woman to get pregnant....53 is the average age for women to start menopause.I also dont see what the hell a child has to say about an adult making a choice to have a baby....if your mom is serious than support her or shut up..nobody needs negative people.

I was just doing the math---allowing for the time to get pregnant plus a 9 month gestation - I would have (at my age now ) a freaking 5 year old running thru my house!! I have a 28 year old son--so that lil 5 year old should belong to him--NOT ME!! I think she's having a mid-life crisis or something (last one I had I adopted a puppy--much easier--and people don't frown when you put them in a crate for the evening!).

She is feelingl the ticks of her biological clock. Bottom line it--she had you and your sister--how did she do with that decision? She's probably a lot more wiser now and more settled than she was then, things are probably not even as hard as it was then. She probably would have been better off at 40 than at 47, but support her feelings on the idea...it'll probably pass. If not, you may just look up and see mini me.

It is next to impossible for your mother to get pregnant at 47 unless she undergoes some expensive procedures. I think she is just trying to give you a hard time. It's time for you and your sis to move out and leave mom to her fantasies.

If she is healthy and up to the madness nothing you can do...
I'm 43 and i say H*LL NO to more midgets. Your mom should be enjoying her freedom...Are you both home or is she going through empty nest syndrome? Tell her i said to get a puppy....

its her choice as a person. she has the freedom to choose. what do u care u will be out of the house soon, and i am guessing this is why she wants another child. hers r growing up and don't need her as a mommy anymore.

There is nothing for you to do. It's your mother's decision. If she wants another child that is her business. You and your sister are adults making your own decisions, not hers.

it's probably her way of saying she wants kids... GRANDKIDS. maybe she wants your older sis to start thinking of having a family and giving her a grandkid. women are crazy that way.

I would ask my mother if she lost her mind. When the baby graduates, she will be like 65, kind of scary!
