I went over in the second wave, was there for 11 months, 26 days, for a full deployment of 14 months (mobilization, and de mobilization) My Ex-wife has been there for goin on 19 months. The difference is I went as Engineers/ Ammo. specialist, She went as Civil Affairs/ Special Opps. I believe the military occupational specialty plays a vital role in the durration of the deployment. A combat unit will generally rotate for 6-12 months depending on how much action they see. A support unit will go for anywhere for 12-18 months because they (on the large margin) will not see any action.
