I worked at a marina all summer, and a large group of Muslims left behind many pairs of sandals when they left. Does it mean something?

They do not want them entering there home these were sandles used outside and dirt and other garbage they have stepped on and they are not meant for the house. only outside wear

Maybe they bought them for the trip only, or they aren't appropriate where they are from.
It probably means nothing except everyone is paranoid.

They can't drink, but most of the muslims I know smoke the good stuff, and forget things all the time.

Did the shoes blow up?
If so then it probably did mean something.
If not, maybe they had athlete's foot or something
