We used a water gun to spray the cat with everytime he scratched the couch (the idea being that he wouldn't like it and would stop scratching). He would sit there with his mouth open lapping the water up. We stopped using the water gun, it didn't work. Come to think of it, I wonder if this is why he still scratches the couch, hoping for his water gun to come back, lol

How in the world did you figure this out in the first place. Stop beating your cat with chop stick.

Beaten??? No cat likes being beaten, would you? It sounds like your cat likes wood and wants to play. Sticks are a common attraction toy for cats, watch them in yards, you'll see them play with twigs and sticks. Normal behavior but please do not HIT your cat with them, that is cruel and animal abuse!

My girlfriend has a really feisty cat - Marcel. He loves to attack you, scratch, bite, claw... you name it. But when I say "spank that butt" and start hitting him with an open hand on his hind quarters, he will stop what he is doing and just lay down and let me hit him for as long as I want. Kinda like chopsitcks..but more perverse.

Maybe not a fetish...maybe your cat just wants your attention.

Naw, I have one that likes to be kicked in the ribs. He intentionally gets underfoot.
