Well, biologically speaking the egg of course came before the chicken, as the modern chicken's decendants, at some point, converged to create an egg that was slightly different than themselves, but whose product was the chicken as we know it. Therefore... the egg comes before the chicken. From a theological point of view, it would be my opinion then, that the same applies. That if 'religion', as we know it, is the chicken, and it was hatched during the convergence of several other faiths that were slightly different, the 'egg'. It should be noted that every religion on the planet has been manipulated over the last 2000 years to accommodate present day belief systems, so in fact, the 'chicken' that was Christianity or Muslim belief, for example, has in fact morphed into different beings than originally planned. Upon this theory, Christianity, for example, in its original form, was the egg to which the modern chicken (christianity), was born.

First of all, this question was devised not by religious zealots but by philosophers that wanted to challenge the authority of God. And yes the chicken came first, because the egg wouldn't be incubated by itself if there was no chicken sitting on it. So God must have created a chicken first then let it have an egg then sit on it. My opinion only.

It can be religious depending on your belief. Some people believe in a literal interpretation of their Scriptures, and so their Scriptures will have it one way or the other, and so that makes it a religious question.
I personally believe that the egg came first, from a pre-chicken type animal that had evolved to that species.

The Bible says God created all living things. He placed within them the ability to reproduce. The chicken most definitely came first.

The chicken was first. But what was first the chicken or the road? And why did the chicken cross the road? And who's on first? And will the first be last?

According to the theory of evolution, it must have been the egg that contained the first modern chicken. (simplified explanation)
Not sure if that was what you were looking for or not...
Ah, I forgot the first question! It was philosophical, not religious...

Genesis 1:21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
