I love hitting the "answer this question" button only to ask a question! Its like going up the down staircase! Which is how I view Satanism. (Although, I admit, this view is fairly ignorant.) I'm an athiest, and to be honest, I'm more afriad of evangelical christians than I am of satanists. So, what is your goal? I don't mean the goal of your church or your doctrine, I mean, what is YOUR goal, personally for your life? How do you feel satanism or the occult help you along this path?

How about you email me a response even if i don't win- i'm really curious to know!

Why is Satanism called Satanism, and how much of it is based on the character from the Bible?

How much of the Bible do Satanists believe? Do they believe in the creation story as told in Genesis?

The reason I ask is because I know the figure of Satan was based on other deities before appearing in the Scriptures, so why Satan? Why not Baal or Mithra, etc?

It seems very odd to me to 'not believe' the message in the Bible, yet choose to worship a figure from the same book.

I personally do not worship the god of Abraham or Satan. And in many cases I find Satanists to be more rational people than many Christians (except for the ones who are in it for the shock value... just to piss off their parents, but I know they are not the majority), but this makes it even harder for me to understand why they would call themselves Satanists. It's almost as though it lends legitimacy to the book they refuse to follow.

EDIT: I know they don't technically 'worship' Satan, but you gotta admit naming your religion after him is sorta like worship, right?

Satanism is a poorly researched religion because satan and hell do not exist. Satan is just a creation of someone's imagination so they wouldn't have to blame God for anything.
Make up a bad guy and you won't offend God.
God is unable to be offended. And God wrought all types of evil and cruelty during old testament times. And if one reads and believes the bible, they will read that God admits to every evil thing He did.

Is it correct that satanists don't actually worship satan, they just adopted that name because they believe the opposite of what Christianity does?

Why is it that you could live in a glorious place for all eternity and you choose to burn in hell???? Makes no sense at all. Your day will come. I believe that any man, no matter how good or bad can be saved. May God Bless You today, tommorow, and everyday!
