I'm not looking for any drama or anything. I believe in God, and fully support others' beliefs. We're all different. Now to the question:
I remember from somewhere that when you go to Heaven, you forget loved ones [parents, family, friends, etc] or at least forget your relation to them. And my question is, is that true? And to what degree will we forget? Like a spouse, will you see him/her and not recognize him/her at all? Because I know God wants us to love Him the most, so will he take away our love for everyone else when we get to Heaven?
It scared me you know.. to love someone like a boyfriend or a grandparent and then go to Heaven and not remember the love you had for them. All that love that was invested, just gone. I want my grandfather to remember me if I go to Heaven and see him. I'm just a confused little Christian girl...

Understand the true meaning and purport of Heaven and all your queries would automatically dissolve.
Heaven (aka Swarga in Hinduism) is a place in the mighty Cosmos wherein the souls rest in peace until they get to manifest a body on Mother Earth. But there is one condition attached. Any soul can only go to Heaven provided there is a positive balance of karma in hand.
All souls with a negative balance of karma go to hell (aka Naraka in Hinduism).
For every soul (aka Atman in Hinduism) at any point of time there are three abodes available. Either manifest a body on Mother Earth provided matching womb is available (for any soul to manifest on Mother Earth the existence of matching parents is an essential must).
If the matching parents are not available on Mother Earth then it is imperative that the soul would have to rest either in Heaven or hell based on the balance of karma of the earlier manifestations.
And what is karma? Right from the first manifestation the closing balance of any life form is transferred to the next manifestation through the process of karma. It is only karma which keeps the system going. In absence of karma the complete existence of Cosmos would come to a halt.
Does this mean that the reincarnation and the rebirth theory are correct... yes, they are hundred percent correct. Every human being started his first journey as an amoeba (single cell formation), then evolved into insect life, animal life and finally gained the form of a human being.
In all these stages the system of Heaven and hell plays role only after one has manifested the form of a human being... the last in the chain of manifestations.
We need to remember here that it is not Heaven that one would want to go but it is the kingdom of God where Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed went. More on heaven here- http://www.godrealized.org/heaven/way_to_heaven.html

what would be the point of being here on the earth if we couldn't remember anything about it. I'm LDS (aka: Mormon) and we believe that we will have our families in heaven, and that we will remember our experiences we have here, even the bad ones. and i think that is the most wonderful thing he could give me because then i will be able to realize how wonderful heaven is. think about that for a second, if you have never had anything bad happen to you how would you know what good was. so i believe that we will, without a doubt in my mind, remember every person we love and care about. please go to this website www.mormon.org
God Bless!!

Yes, it is true that we won't remember the things of this earth when we go to the next earth (Paradise).
However, don't think of it as love wasted; rather think of it as everyone having that same kind of love that you had for your mother, boyfriend, etc. for everyone else.
Isaiah 65:17:
17 "Behold, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
In Paradise all will love each other as Christ loved; unconditionally and totally. Your capacity to love everyone will be enormous; not just for a select few.

Its not that you forget that you loved someone when you get to heaven.
Its more like you realize that you love everyone equally when you get there, and you just forgot for a while when you were here living in a body.
Love and blessings Don

I've heard both sides to the story actually.
It's hard to assume that you'll remember them because it says in the Bible that you'll have no sorrow or hurt -- and let's face it, not all relationships with family are good ones.
Where as some religions, like Morman for example, belive that when you're sealed in the Temple your family is together forever.
So, maybe you'll only remember the ones who made you happy or something?
Hard question, you'll find out sooner or later -- right?

There is a lot of things that we would like to know that really are unclear in this area. In I Thess 5, Paul comforts believers who have loved ones that had died by saying to them that when Christ returned, He would bring with Him those who had died in Christ Jesus. That certainly implies that we will know one another in Heaven as people we knew on earth. We will have perfect love for all as we ought, but there will be no relationships like marriage in Heaven. Apart from that it really is a mystery that we do not know yet. I have a brother that died when we were teenagers in 1957, and he has been in Heaven now for 50 years. I try to imagine what it will be like to meet him again, but it really is all in our imaginations. We just have to wait and see.

What would be more important in Heaven, to see God or to remember your past life? To see God in all of His glory, that would have to consume your attention. But then, pain and sorrow is not in Heaven. Therefore, you would probably remembering only good memories.

No body goes to heaven yet! until the second coming of Jesus. Then when we go there no one is going to remember anyone. Somehow we all suffer one way or the other, so that's the purpose of heaven no more suffering.

that is a tricky question and i had to do some thinking on it,
in heaven there is no pain so remembering your loved ones i think would bring about pain if they were not chistians. i think will not remember them because of the anguish we would feel that we did not try harder to show them the truth.
