I think one of the most important ones is that people have a very short memory.

We all hear about the lessons learned and how the Viet Nam war wasn't a total fiasco because we have learned from it - bull crap - the same self absorbed people who fantasize that freedom comes without sacrifice are still pounding their same peace drums and ignoring the obvious threats to their own freedom.

Agree with the war on terror or not - we have made a commitment to the Iraqi people - if we don't live up to it this time, I will be totally disgusted with the majority of people who, in my opinion, don't deserve to live in this great nation.

It gave birth to liberals and the anti-American stance. This has caused a huge rift between liberals and conservatives. Because the media dishonored soldiers to the extent they did, people are now more sensitive about dishonoring our soldiers. Presidents and the government are not trusted as much now. The media makes demands not heard of before.

When it comes to being involved in a war, we can't always trust our government. We have to know the enemy, know the specific reasons we are involved, and have a concise definition of what constitutes a successful outcome.

Apparently, we have not learned these lessons from Vietnam.
