Who's to say how long 7 days were when the earth was created? For all we know, one day could have been years, and therefore, dinosaurs would have been created before humans.

Maybe the 4th commandment was just put into time as we see it in 24 hour days. Ever think about that?

3:8 But, beloved, be not * ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Well I'm pretty sure that each day would have had to be the literal 24 hour day that we have today. Why? Well let's look at this. On day 3 God made the plants(Gen 1:11). But on day 4 (or five, depending on how you look at it) God made insects(insects help pollinate plants). Now how could the plants survive for all those years(without the ability to reproduce), unless they were actually 24 hour days.
Another thing, the sun was created on day 4(Gen 1:16). Plants need sunlight to live. If it was more than a 24 hour day the plants would have died before their nutrition supply became available.
You can't have the creation day's as more than 24 hours each, it just doesn't work.

So in short, yes I do take the Biblical creation story litteraly.

Earth was created in 6 days by our Lord God, Each person has there own way of believing in how the world was created. As life goes on & we learn more about how things were put here, I watch documentries a lot & every one has there own way of discovering when, how & who we came from. Every thing seems to come in sevens but the Lord rested on the sabith, so its written. We still have dinosaurs walking the earth, crocodiles are the oldest dinosaurs we have even now.

What is a day to an ant, a fish, a Sasquatch? Alright, maybe not a Sasquatch!

What a human perceives as a day is a period of time from sun-up to sun-up - plus or minus a few moments!

Remember that In the Begining, there was no sun, thus no day or night! Whatever The Creator thought of a "a day" is unknown to you and me! Time, is something humankind invented.

IMHO, I believe God needed to give mankind a timeline to focus on. In God's timeline (a blink of the eye, maybe), our years are simply a moment in His time!

In any case, God created all of this from nothing! The timeline really doesn't matter.

The T'Rex's were here 1st - no prob with that! So long as I never have to meet up with one of them again --- EVER! They had such great big teeth!

I believe the story of creation but I don't understand the relevance in whether it was 7 days or not. Why does this matter? Why do dinosaurs matter? All that matters is that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and that God gave His Son Jesus Christ to die in our place to cover our sins. We either accept the gift or refuse it. It's just that simple. If we start talking about 7 days vs. dinosaurs aren't we loosing sight of the real goal we should be focusing on?

I believe that the story is an archeotype for the explination of our creation. All humans have some sort of creation tale. If an apples fall everywhere on earth when it is dropped you could say that gravity works everywhere on earth. The same logic applies to that fact that one of the first things that humans made was a creation tale. It always includes a higher being.

There are millions that believe the creation story literally. If you think one day could have been years, how do you explain the days only had one morning and one evening to each of them. How would that fit into evolution if just one rotation of the earth took thousands of years. I think you either have to believe the Bible or not, they really don't mix together very well.

A lot, at least children...

We know that story has the goal of show that God Created everything by his own. But the most probably thing is that each day (yom in the original language) means a period of time (as same as yom) - Yom could be a day or a period of time.

Whatever, I beleive that God could do everything taking the time he wants.. a second... a year...

Agreed. We don't know how long a GOD day was or is.

Carl Sagan said we were created on the first hour of the last day of the first Cosmic month and are still either in that first hour or in the early part of the 2nd hour.

The Bible and simple logic tells us how long the 7 days of creation were. They were not years or eons.

You might try reading the 4 commandment as given to Moses by GOD.

"8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:"(Exo 20:8-10)

11"For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."(Exo 20:11)

Please notice the term "For in SIX DAYS the LORD made heaven and earth . . ." and also "And rested the SEVENTH DAY" .

Now notice the phrase "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work."

To try to twist the Genesis account of the six day creation into years would make the 4th commandment utter nonsense.

It is obvious from the 4th commandment that GOD plainly states that the creation was completed in six literal days.

Q.E.D.

Additional note for INVINCIBLE :

Perhaps the words of Christ will clear it up for you.

"And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:"(Mark 2:27)

Here we have Christ telling us that the sabbath day was made for us.

It would make the words of Christ utter nonsense to think that Christ was saying the 7th day sabbath was years or eons long.

Since Christ plainly states the 7th day sabbath was made for us, this statement implies there is some blessing in keeping the sabbath of the Lord. How could the 7th day sabbath benefit mankind if we had no idea how long the 7th day sabbath was?

Methinks that you need to believe the Bible as it is written and not try to twist it to fit your imagination.

I do....it had to be literal. The sun, moon and stars were created AFTER the plants and green trees.

Jesus said:
"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)

" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host by the breath of His mouth. For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:9)
