Yes that is normal-this little puppy is showing you,in his own little way, that he loves you with all his little heart. you can't beat that!

Puppies are VERY much about close contact with their 'Pack' ... and you are it!
even an older pup will want to be close ( a VERY good thing BTW) because this will help bond you tightly for the future when he will want to push off on his own - so to speak.

need a little space? - a kennel (bed size only) is a good place to settle him for a nap - but be ready to go outside at release, and then some bonding time.
some whimpering or whining is expected when cooped (or crated) - but to help settle a young pup - do not place him in there because he is bouncing around ( this is for sleeping )
wait until he is winding down himself - and something soft (an old sweatshirt perhaps - that smells of you ) and strange as it may sound - an old wind up alarm clock. the tick-tock sounds like a heart beat, and is very soothing.
pugs are very much 'velcro kids' - so I would certainly limit the crate time - but it is a good thing too!

good luck with your pup!
KC

puppies love to be close, I guess it's a mommy separation thing, you don't say how old he is, but as he grows older he will venture out on his own more. Some older dogs never lose this closeness though, and personally I love that about a dog.
good luck with your little magnet

Yes it is absolutly normal... Alot of puppies just have to be close to their owner because of the warmth and it reminds them of their mother. Also because they CRAVE having physical touch with the human that they are bonded most with. He will grow out of it, but most of the time dogs will still follow their owner around EVERYWHERE, and never let you leave their site. Good Luck and I hope you have a good time with you young pug.~ Sierra

Absolutely normal. It can be annoying sometimes but you'll start to miss it if he stops. He's a baby and just looking for a little comfort and companionship. Be grateful he's a small breed! I had a German Shephard that thought he was a lap dog even once he was fully grown. Enjoy!

How old is he? It could either be that he was taken from his mother too soon. Or that he thinks you are his mother & just wants to be close to you. It could also be that he feels insure about soemthing like maybe you will disappear on him & he'll be lost if you are not near him! If this continues take him to the vet there might be something wrong.

My dog is a aldult and he has been following me everywhere since his brother died(was hit by a car I live in the country). It drives me nuts b/c I don't want to pet him all the time. He sleeps in the basement.

It's very normal...you are his security blanket. It just means he loves you. My little "special" puppy has to be next to me all the time, he follows me everywhere and I'm the only one who can put him outside...he refuses to go with anyone else!

yes puppies do this when they are taken from their litter mates they are used to being close to someone and they do this when they sleep near one another, so yes this is perfectly normal for him to do this, he may grow out of this but usually with smaller breeds they need to feel the closeness to someone. don't worry about him hey just think of him being your foot warmer.

You represent his Mom so yes he has to be touching you . But don't go and spoiling him , take him out for walks . and like Cesar says you must walk ahead of him , if you want him to respect you as his leader .
