gigantic difference in appearance

the file system is relatively the same (NTFS) both are based on Windows NT. but the GUI on XP was completely revamped -- wanna see a difference ? enable the old-school grfx in XP desktop and it will look like Win 2K

as far as anything else -- Win 2000 is much more stable, and overall prob. a better OS, but XP does alot of things automatically where Win2000 doesnt. XP is much more "user friendly"

WindowsXP seems to be pretty bug-free and is fast. If you have Win2000 you might want to consider upgrading because it won't be too long when MS will no longer support it. MS has already stopped all support and upgrades for Win98.
