Yes there were people already there...they were from the creation of Genesis 1:26-27......Adam and Eve were the Formation of Genesis 2:7....nice catch!!

This is in Genesis 4. The Bible doesn't indicate how long after creation that this event took place. Obviously it was long enough for the earth to be populated by many other people. People in those days lived for hundered of years.

Genesis doesn't say Adam and Eve were God's ONLY human creations.
(It doesn't name all the Israelites that wandered, does it?)
PS: unlike the racer, I don't believe in 2 stated creations - just one, retold (like the Gospel accounts of Jesus' life).
