Think of it as what affect the past Slavery in America still has on African-Americans. It is a thorn is our hearts, and anytime someone bring it back to mind (like Micheal Ricahrds) it bothers and hurts us. Same things as in middle east, America is in Iraq and Afghanistan, the memories of the crusades were brought to life and is a great pain in the heart.

History has an impact on everything everywhere around the world. How long ago it happened seems to have little baring on what actually happens later.

no because there is still the idea that that land is holy- which makes it more desired.
and its a smack in the face to middle easterners, they already had to fight for their homes once and won, now israel and pakistan are fighting for territory

well its used as a constant diversion by muslims to distract from the brutality that they implicated than and now
