no the reason for celibacy was because Paul wrote that He would rather that leaders should be celibate like him, but he also added that it was better to be married than burn.
I guess the church never read that.

Nepotism is hiring somebody close or related to you without regard to qualifications.
Celibacy is abstaining from any sex.
I see no connection. Historically, celibacy has been connected to reducing one's powers as a priest; in women as a breach of their vow to be a wife of god or of Christ or to be pure; there is the practical ban on sex so that priests will not become involved inappropriately with parishoners.
Obviously celibacy doesn't work.
Nepotism might mean a few other priests/nuns were off limits because they were relatives, but otherwise, I don't see where one has to do with the other.

Why, were priests only hiring other priests out of their own families? I don't know if I understand nepotism the way you're making it sound in the question....What would doing favors for your family have to do with celibacy?

Nepotism is favoritism. Sounds about right in the eye of human history. But, I don't believe a just God would favor one religion over another. I think we are meant to piece the puzzle together in piece one day.

I don't think so it don't seem to work so well in the Protestant Church. I had a boyfriend who was a preachers son there was no way his dad could get him to participate in church. Merry Christmas. XX Betty.

How does that make any sense?
If they don't reproduce, there wouldn't be any more of their family to give jobs to. They're celibate because they devote themself to God and no one else.
