Not just men either! Mostly it is a matter of denomination and region. Normally a "Reverend" or a "Minister" has a congregation they are in charge of. A "preacher" is often not associated with any particular congregation. Of course "priest" is pretty much reserved for catholic ministers, just as rabbi is reserved for Jewish ministers. "Reverend" is an honoraium, a title just like "Mister" or "Judge" or "Doctor". "Minister" is more the job title and explination of what they do. Hope this helps.

They have different jobs and responsibilities mostly according to denominations. A Preacher preaches, a minister is normally the leader of a church, A Pastor, is also a hired leader of a protestant church. Priest is Catholic, Evangelists preaches to non believers outside the church, Teacher teach, Reverend is ordained under state laws and is licienced to marry. etc. Elders are normally lay spiritl leaders, Deacons are lay people in charge of physical property of the church.

These are titles that organizations and individuals decide to use. Some believe the Bible says call no man "Father" (meaning God or God-like) or "Reverend" because those titles are reserved for God. In those organizations they call their pastors Elder (name) or their pastor, or their minister. I think that is best. Afterall we are all human and none of us should be put on a holy pedestal like we are better in God's eyes than another human. We are all equal in God's eyes. None of us is holy. Calling our pastors or ministers by titles that are reserved to God is blasphemous.

Priests .... offer sacrifice to God for the people.
Ministers et al .... do not.
