Murder is illegal in the United States and therefore never occurs.
Is that true?

The fact that something is illegal does not guarantee no one will attempt it. There is probably nepotism in the business world all the time, and even in politics. Not sure if simony goes on in today's churches, but I would not be surprised.

False. Even if it is illegal (which I don't believe it is) it still occurs enmasse in certain industries (notably small businesses) and therefore the "and" of the sentence makes the former aspect irrelevant in terms of defining the truth of the statement.
Hooray for Formal Order Logic!

What country do YOU live in? Just because something is illegal doesn't mean that people don't do it! People engage in both all the time, it is just that they can be proscecuted if they are caught...no different than prostitution or drug use.
