That's a rather vague question. People have negative views of Christians because there are those who will literally try to force their beliefs upon you. There are those who won't marry someone of another religion, those who won't accept homosexual marriage or allow women to have abortions, etc. etc. Everybody has their reasons. Some Christians even dislike other Christians. If you want a better answer, it'd be nice if you would clarify your question.

First of all the truth is that those who are called hypocrites are usually not really christians.
I know I used to be one I believed the teaching that come forward ask for forgiveness & your saved forever you can do anything!
Not!
That s not what the Bible teaches at all. Ive just always taken the word of all the ministers . Now I know the truth . God has opened my eyes .
God also says to repent. That means to turn from our sins. We are to have in our heart to purpose not to sin. God knows our hearts.

Christians are still human - 2 spirits (natural, born that way; supernatural, born again with the Holy Spirit). Sometimes the natural wins out over the supernatural.

Non-believers and other critics tend to focus on the natural "You call yourself a Christian, but look what you did!"

Difference is, Christians feel guilty because we displeased our Father. Non-believers tend only to feel guilty when they get caught and suffer unwanted chastisement.

"Christians are... saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's divine & perfect sacrifice for our sins."

Christians are well meaning people, sometimes some can be extreme and very strict, others can be very nice and helpful. Basically they are people some good some bad and a whole lot of variations in between. Hope that helps at all.

I have heard that the reason more peole don't go to church is that the church is full of hypocrites. As one pastor put it, in agreement, "The church is the only organization that freely admits that they are, and accepts them, one and all. And, besides, if people think that way, then they no different than the one's in church. So I say, 'There is always room for one more hypocrit.'"

Christians are followers of Jesus Christ and not followers of man.

This is said best by the apostle Paul when he had to address this problem very early in the life of the church.

There are many christians who do follow the teachings of christ and are loving, caring and compassionate towards other people.

Unfortunately there are also many hardcore types who call themselves christian and yet are cruel,aggressive,war-like,self opinionated and hypocritical.

......the largest religion in america, and have a skewed viewpoint like any majority. Not being mentally challenged doesn't exactly lead to a healthy viewpoint--the minority must be wrong, why else would they be a minority? (this isn't a blanket statement on Christians, just a generalization)

Among all of those people who get publicity for being hypocritical Christians..there are those who go unnoticed. They quietly and seemlessly live out the life of Christ and these out to receive recognition for His work. They are the people who love and lay their lives down for others because of Christ:
Mother Theresa
Jim Elliot
C.S. Lewis...
Look at those people who have demonstrated that Christ is real..they LOVE.

Christians are Christian. There's no definitive thing that follows from that until you have a definition of what it means to be a Christian and THAT'S something people don't agree on as of yet.
