A thyristor is a semiconductor device also known as a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR). It has three electrodes, an anode, cathode and gate (control electrode). When the anode is positively charged with respect to the cathode no current will flow until a pulse, provided by a firing circuit, is applied to the gate. The thyristor will remain conductive until the voltage in the device drops to zero.

A firing circuit is a device which converts an input signal; current, voltage or potentiometer into an output signal which will fire a triac or thyristor.
Short pulse is one pulse; like a lamp on off
Pulse-train generator is drive firing of repetitive pulses
long pulse is manipulating the current time cycle

A thyristor is a PNPN device also known as SCR or silicon controlled rectifier. It's VI charecteristics is like an S with long linear head on a sharp bent. Usually it is used in motor control. You can make it operate in the linear region by applying the right inputs to the P N and P junctions. You connect the input voltage to the P junction and the control voltage from the armature to the N junction and make the thyristor operate in the linear region. If for any reason the armature voltage decreases then the motor stops. Either the N or P junction can be used for different control actions together or singly depending on the number of reference voltages needed for the particular control action.

you have nowhere close to adequate on that homestead circuit to overload it. (A 'prevalent' 15A. circuit is solid for 1440W non-provide up load.) computers might have large potential components, yet in frequent operation they draw 100W or much less, and something of the plenty you cite are lots smaller. The circuit breaker is designed to guard the homestead wiring. it is going to holiday if the present drawn is such that the homestead cord could be heated above the risk-free temperature for its insulation. i will take your word for it that the cords in use are able to attend to the linked load. Then, the 'fireplace undertaking' is with the 'rats nest' of unprotected cord that must be mendacity around in this form of outrage. A broken cord could strengthen a severe resistance short, that under the terrific circumstances can warmth up adequate to initiate a fireplace without tripping the breaker. My laptop runs on a matching 'rats nest' and that i unplug it while i'm no longer there.
