I guess your question is for Catholics. Well ,I'm not but I have a couple of points to share.
So much depends on one's faith in God. I've gone through the 'born again' experience, and had prayers answered, and actually felt that God was useing me for some of his work.
My other point is ,that a religous leader told me once that religon is just like anything else, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
And there is that scripture that says where much is given, much is expected. I think that goes for anybody who is trying to follow God's word reguardless of one's religous affiliation.
And everyone else is I assume like me in the sense that they are connected to the church that they feel is where God want's them.

You are forgetting the fact that, in the beginning of Christianity, ALL Christians were Catholics! And the Roman Catholic church is NOT the only religion that believes in the real presence of the Jesus in the Eucharist...so do the Greek and Russian Orthodox and the Episcapaleans. Obviously, you have never attending any religious ceremony besides a Roman Catholic one.
As a former Catholic, I do not believe that RC's are any better or worse than any other religion. We are all trying to live our lives the best we can. Get over yourself and just live your life how you think it is best to live it. If you feel that means "doing more" because you happen to be RC, go for it.

Alright, you are being true to your faith, I guess, but it isn't what the Bible teaches. But if you are a consistent Roman Catholic, you have no choice but to believe that the Eucharist is a sacrament in which the Lord is present while not being present at other times. You also believe that non-catholics who claim to be Christian do not have that, so in a sense are 2nd class Christians (I don't think you would use that term, but that is what it comes to). You are not being arrogant, you are just being true to what you have been taught. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised - it just that the result seems to go against what I think I have seen in your character.
I have Jesus' real presence with me every day, and when I take the Lord's Supper, I'm doing it in memory of Him according to His command.
To transfer your final question to all of Christianity, yes, we have failed in many ways. We need to be living our our faith more clearly, so that people will be able to see wo Christ is.

yes, we should be expected to do more than just pray. Not that praying is useless. Are you aware of a doctrine of social justice that the Roman Catholic church has. Also anyone who has apostolic succession can have the Eucharist because Jesus said the last supper to his disciples and the catholic priest are the direct descendants of those original 12 disciples. I believe that orthodox Christians as well as other Christians can get it too because they have priest and they never claim to have their own pope. If you hear this Jesus loves you and that's all it's just bad catechism of the 70's. Remember that Jesus was killed simply because of what he preached, if all you get is a couple of insulting remarks consider yourself lucky. Also transubstantiation has a very deep and complicated theology behind it. It has to do with the Greek concept of nature and other philosophical ideas. But remember that catholics call protestants "departed brethren"

You have obviously been indoctrinated by the Catholic church. That's ok. I respect that. Your "real presence" is the idea of transubstantiation. Do you honestly believe that when the priest blesses the bread it becomes the literal body of Christ? That's not even biblical.
Unfortunately, any religion that believes they are the only ones who have it right will be very surprised when they get to Heaven.
I receive Jesus' death on the cross, and his bodily resurrection from the dead as fact. That being the case, I'm not about to eat his literal flesh, which would be cannibalism.
Sorry.... but you brought it up.
God Bless,
Sue

By your logic - Yes, a lot is expected of Catholics.
Having others follow your logic will be difficult, I almost said impossible (but I'd be wrong), and may make you mad (as in need a visit to a nice "spa" for awhile).
I would suggest remembering everyone has free will and to not be upset if others CHOOSE not to listen to a source of logic, (yours). As "they" think they are right and want people to only think like them.
I would suggest also that GOD has gifted everyone equally with Catholics, and everyone is equally expected to be the BEST - rather than being average or at their worse when interacting with others.

I will pray for you. Catholics almost have it right, but not quite. The one true way to the father in heaven is by accepting his son Jesus Christ into your heart. That's it. Forgiving us of all of our past, current and future sins.
Catholics confess to earthly men who are worshipped as idols. The Catholic church is full of idol worship, much like VooDoo and Wiccan. Both satanic religions.
The Eucharist or Communion, is nothing more than a symbol. Thanking the lord for giving his life so that we may live eternally. Much like Catholic baptism. To accept the lord into you heart is a personal thing. Catholics like to dress up and baptize children before they even know what is going on.
They recognize the correct God like christians or Jews, but are not necessarily going to heaven because they know who God and Jesus Christ are.
Nothing is expected from you but to accept christ into your heart and live your life in a way that would please him.....

Im sorry to disappoint you Midge, generally I like your Q&A on the board. But your treading a thin line by telling us Cathilocs are the only ones given the REAL presence of Christ, because the religous doctrine you follow teaches that.
Fact is, it is just that, a religious doctrine, and it does not line up with all faiths. Its fine for you to believe that, each person has his or her own set of beliefs.
More should be expected of anyone who claims to be a follower of Christ, not just a Cathiloc.

Hi Midge. I am gonna have to disagree on this one. I am Catholic as well but I do a lot of studying in religion.I think it is all about taking Jesus in your heart a being as Christ-like , as humanly possible. Baptists, Catholics, lutheran ect are all man-made religion with man-made rules and beliefs.

You could suppose so. But the entire theology is nonsense. In particular, an attempt to distinguish on the basis of "real presence" is silly -- there is no such presence. The notion of transsubtantiation is one of the more idiotic facets of Catholicism, but there are many more.
