Not really. You are thinking of pietism which came a few generations after the colonial Puritans. The Puritans had public expression of their faith that effected their governance. This is one reason Roger Williams sought more religious freedom by starting his own colony (in Rhode Island).

It depends on which group of Protestants you are asking about. The pilgrims believed that religion was mostly a matter of how you acted and your relationship between God/Jesus and yourself. The Quakers were/are the same. Some of the Calvinists and Presbeterians believed in being highly vocal and community-minded in their religion. There is no "true/false" answer to this question.

If their faith was so private, why was every town in Amercia, at that particular time, built with the church in the middle of it?
False. The Bible commands to preach and teach the word to the four corners of the world, and as dutiful as they were back then, they did it!

God........True!
That's the difference between genuine Christianity and Religion. You have a relationship with your Savior.Religion, you are doing all sorts of rituals trying to please "The big man in the sky" whom you don't even know.
"Well,if I cross myself this way and kneel this way and light a candle and swing some incense and pay for absolution, maybe God will notice.....That's sad man ,really sad.
