Hi, its me again.... answering lots of your dog questions. I have big dogs, but I have heard that pugs are absolute clowns and love to make you laugh! Plus, they look different (unique) than most small dogs.

It really depends on your lifestyle on what kind of dog to get. The best thing to do is to reasearch smallers breeds so you know which best fits you. Looking at http://www.akc.org would be a great start. Also be sure to take into consideration possible health issues with each breed and be sure you're ready for anything that might arise that way. I would also check the humane society. There are so many dogs there that would be so grateful for a nice, warm, loving home and a lot of the time you can even find purebreeds. As far as specific breeds, pomeranians are great little dogs! Good luck!

I have a 4 month old Bichonpoo (1/2 Bichon Frise 1/2 Poodle) she weighs 5 1/2 pounds now and will weigh about 10 pounds when full grown. She is so cute (see photo at left). She is a playful fun dog, who loves everyone and gets along with all other animals. She is very smart and easily trainable. She is mellow. Has a marvelous personality. I highly recommend this mix if you are considering a small breed dog. She is the best dog I ever owned.

I have a Cavalier King Charles and he is an amazing dog. They are lap dogs, so they want to be with you all the time, they love people. The only drawback...make sure if you go places with them that you leave early because everyone will stop you to say how beautiful your dog is and how happy it looks! They are great with other animals, extremely intelligent and love praise and really look up to their owners. Cavaliers run from $500-1500. Just do research before you buy a dog, whatever breed you choose, to check on health problems the breed has. Also, please buy from a reputable breeder so you will know the family history and it will help ensure you get a healthy dog where diseases are rare in the family.

Hi I just bought a dog in october. I wanted a small breed dog as I live in town. I really wanted a cairn terrier (toto from wizard of oz or the dog in as good as it gets) I could not find one here. I went to a breeder and discovered a toy rat terrier. she has been the best dog I have ever owned. She was house trained fairly fast. knew her name in 1 day, and how to sit in 2. she follows my mother and I around all of the time. I paid 300 for her, but also got her at 7 months. I would recomend this breed to anyone that likes small dogs. If you don't want a jumper or barker make sure to look at the dogs first. "Maggie May" was the only non jumper or barker around and she still does not jump or bark.

I think that a Shih Tzu would be a good dog for you. They are small (breed standard is 10 to 16 pounds), smart, and loving! The average cost for a "pet" Shih Tzu (that means one that is not show quality) is between $400 to $600. I have 3 and I wouldn't trade them in for the world!
If you want to check into the breed, go to www.shihtzu.org. This is the website for the American Shih Tzu Club. It can answer almost any question that you have on this breed.

I have a Shih Tzu, they are really playful and lovable. I once read on the net that Shih Tzu think of themselves as royalty and believe me Stella is Princess Di reincarnated. She has her own certain spot to set and watch TV, she will only eat Puppy Chow if warm milk is added. I know pretty much that every dog has it perks but to me Shih Tzu live up to being treated like royalty. A plus they are very low maintenance. Hope this helps. Hope Santa gives you what you want.

Toy fox terriers are awesome little dogs. my entire family has had one and at one time my parents had 5. they loved playing in the water. you couldn't turn the hose or sprinklers on without them going crazy !! they're very easy to potty train , they are very loyal , and very smart and easy to train. the one i had only weighed 5 pounds. he was the baby i never was able to have. they are similar to Chihuahuas in size but they don't have the mean tempers as the Chihuahuas tend to always have. if you were to get a mid sized dog , i would suggest a Queensland heeler. they are mid sized cattle dogs and i have never had a dog that learned so quickly and just absolutely adored me. i suggest also that you think very hard when it comes to getting a long haired dog. they are a mess. and if you don't have a lot of time and patience, they will get all matted up and ya end up having to take them to get groomed. short haired dogs are a lot easy to care for. Boston bull terriers are also awesome and easy to train dogs. those are the kind that i have had the pleasure of sharing my life with. all of them are so loyal. good luck. i hope you find your best friend soon. oh !! and as far as the cost goes...it just depends on where you get your dog. sometimes you can check in the paper and find someone that has to give up their dog and they're willing to give the dog away. i strongly advise you to get a pup tho. these dogs can cost from $50-$500. it just depends. if ya want papers and all of that stuff...yer talkin' a bit of money for them. look around and don't grab the first one ya see. one more piece of advise... when you pick out your pup , chances are there will be more than one in a litter. sit down in the middle of them and the one that seems to be all over you....THAT'S THE ONE FOR YOU !!! ONCE AGAIN, GOOD LUCK. Deanne

PUGS PUGS PUGS PUGS PUGS and more pugs that are the craziest, funniest, most loveable, playful lap dogs in the whole world. When my pug gets excited she races around the couch like its a race track...also she has a stuffed froggy..she will not go to bed without froggy, she wont eat without froggy and if shes playing froggy is right near her. The funny part is when she cant find where she put froggy last and she finally do finds it..she puts it in her mouth and shakes it violently and then lays it in her bed for a time out...THEY ARE THE BEST DOGS EVER!!!!!!!!

I'd say Jack Russel but they can be a bit snappy price: from $0 ( free to good home)- near $1000, cross breeds price: $0- an adoption fee from pound or more dear if from pet shop.
Best wishes to you and your future dog.
