just be sure to not go swimming, or saturate the tattoo w/water for the first 2 weeks...take quick showers, being mindful of the tattoo...and most important, as it starts to scab...DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT IT, NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT MAY ITCH this is crucial....dont use any soaps or lotions with fragrances in them as well...thats really the most imp part...and be sure to always wear sunscreen on it while outside for extended periods...enjoy your new tattoo

Please dont' listen to the first guy NO alchol. Just clean it w/a senstive soap nothing real fragancey. The other guys were right about keeping it clean and important not to pick or scratch...no matter how much you wanna.
My last one was ooozzing but it was okay the next day, also make sure the lotion you use is fragance free...I am using Luberderm but the kind you said your bro uses probably will be fine. The artist recommend Vaseline Intesive care.
For some reason Bri got a thumbs down...but the same thing happen to me w/the print of the tattoo sticking just don't peel off your shirt get in the shower and wet it and then take it off.
Keep with the lotion for the next 7-10 days and at least 4x a day. That should help.

Oh God! It IS like having an open wound, but WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT RUB ALCOHOL ON IT! That has to be the worst advice I have ever seen. No alcohol. It will hurt and can pull the color out of your new tat.
Seeping is very common with tattoos. It's fine. The seeping won't ruin it, it's just your body pushing out mainly the liquid that holds the tattoo ink together. You're A okay. I've had 6, two of them very large, so I know the deal.
I added some links about Alcohol and tattoos... please don't listen to that guy's bad advice.

Congrats on your new tatt!! I know I just love mine, and I wish I had another!
Here's how to take care of it.
Remember it's a skin abrasion and needs good care.
Wash it with mild soap and warm water, don't scrub, just rub softly with your hand.
Keep it moist, my tattoo artist recommend Vasoline intensive care lotion, use when it feels dry or itchy......even when it doesn't.
Most important!! DO NOT SCRATCH!!! When it itches, and it will, just pat, pat, pat your tatt :)
Stay outa the sun, if you do go, use a good sunscreen.
Follow this advice and your new tattoo will last as long as you do, and look great too!

Make sure when it scars over you DO NOT pick at it and DO NOT scratch it...or the will result in a funny lookin tattoo because if you do Scratch And You DO Pick..then you will be picking off the color and scratchin off the color!!
make sure u do not get it wet and DO NOT forget to put lotion on it!! Good Luck!!

the best way to treat a tattoo is to treat like a serious burn.u should apply some type of lotion(brands vary from country-country)and keep air away from it for the first 3 days r so by covering it with cling film.enjoy

the first tatt i got was small, but the next day u got a big one on my lower back it took 3 hours. make sure when you go to bed you sleep with a shirt on lol cause i had a short shirt on and some of the ink got onto my bed sheets a print of my tatt lol it was funny but couldnt get it all out of my sheets. cause some of the ink will come out. you can get it toutched up but you should wait till it completly heals, my husband said it hurts way more goin through scab tissue and then its eaiser seeing what needs to be toutched up when its heald. hes got alot of tatts. I know when i got mine toutched up it hurt soooo bad! because it hurts more since its goin through scar tissue, but my hubby dosent think it hurts more.

a new tattoo is like a new open wound. you have to treat it like one.
rub alcohol on it and keep it covered til it heals.
