Pinnacle 10 video editing?

I have tried using Pinnacle 10 to brighten my video, but after using the brightening feature, the screen flashes back and forth between the original setting and the new setting. Can anyone help me?

you seem to have altered the refresh rate within your software and not hardware. not knowing what type monitor it is them i can't help but guess here....

do you have a manual for the monitor?
do you have any buttons on your monitor?
when you boot up dose the monitor scramble (jump around)
