I take it Tigres Del Norte never looked at a map?
Because there is no 'continent' of America. There is North America and South America, but the United States of America is the only America as the United States of Mexico is the only 'Mexico'.
Also, being born in Europe does NOT necessarily mean you are European, try looking at some of THEIR citizenship laws, sometime.

America is not a continent. America, is the United States of America. There are two different continents, North America, consisting of USA, and Canada, and there is South America, consisting of Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Guatemala (I am not going to type all the different countries, there are TOO many!), and you all down in S. America hate each other!
No one in S. America when asked, says, "I am an American", neither do folks from Canada. They say I am from Canada, or I am a Brazilian, or Guatemalan, or mexican. None of these countries deserves the name America, for they are NOT the land of the free and the brave! Thank the Lord I am NOT mexican, they wouldn't know BRAVE if Jesus himself whispered it in their ear! They, like a lot of S. American's run for any border but their own, and the closest one is USA! They don't have the gut's to stand up to their own governments and fix what is wrong, they're lazy, and lax, and want what is already made, AMERICA! Too bad they hate themselves and their own countries, and let their weak governments run roughshod over them. No one wants cowards in America, it's not in our nature!

People don't use the term correctly is all. Actually the continents are North America and South America. The term of America usually applies to the US simply because it is the only country with the term "America" in the title (United States of America). None of the other countries have the term in their titles. (Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, etc)

Canadians are not Americans, and neither are people from the south of America, their is only one America and that is the United States of America. The people in Central America can call them selves Americans but they are not and never will be, unless they come to the U.S. and become citizens legally. I know when the people in the Middle east shout death to America we will make sure they also send their missles to south America also, hows that. hahaha. And if they say they are Americans then that means real American from the United States can go to south America illegally and live, is that right or dose that only apply to Mexicans and others in central America that want to come here, only they can come illegally to our country.

I was born in Canada and will never identify myself as an American (North or otherwise). There is a reason so many Americans try and pass themselves off as Canadians when they travel. For being on the same continent, the worlds perception of both countries are very different.

A pregnant illegal alien can go into labor and deliver an American. Wow, talk about the miracle of birth. Sing that to the tune of Thank You America! At least sing it in English!

Technically everybody born in the Americas is an American. But the country's name is United States of America. United Stater is waaaayyyy too long, so we will stick with Americans for now. People can call themselves Americans if they want, but that won't make them United Staters.

Because all dumb "americans" (as in US citizens) think that everything is about them.
WAKE UP! there is a whole world outside your ignorant and egocentric little minds!
JAJAJA Maybe that is the best they could do, because their country's "name" is more of a descrption "United States of America"......yeah! how creative!!
Other countries can proudly identify themselves as Mexicans, Canadians, etc...but them? ...that is soooo sad!!
(By the way, message only intended for those in this forum with dumb answers, I am not against US citizens in general, most are cool)

Odd that you would bring this up, but a awful lot of people do not realize that Americans include all of the American Continent. But on the other hand, it is Mexicans and other South Americans are to blame for not saying they are Americans. They would rather say, Mexican, Venezuelan, Costa Rican, etc. I often grin whenever a U.S. citizen says he/she is an American to a Mexican or other South American national.
