People get into trouble when they become passionate about what they believe in. Any subject. Not JUST religion. They suddenly feel they HAVE to tell everyone about it and when we do not want to hear it; they become angry as they are really scared about everything.
The passion covers the fears they have. Think: Jehovah's Witnesses.
People who get into positions of financial power become greedy. They forget right and wrong because they feel they have been given "the right" to do anything they want. No one can question them or hold them accountable because of the position they have. Think priests.
You will NOT "burn in hell." Hell does not exist. It was created in the 1800's by a man who wrote a book describing hell. After a while, it became reality to many.
When you read about people commiting a crime, and then walking away, it is usually because there was not enough air-tight evidence to prove they did it. Sure that makes all of us furious, but not 100% who are arrested, go to jail. That is life.
Not to quote directly from the bible, but, here is what it says about death;
1. Your body dies.
2. Your soul goes toward heaven. That can either be UP, as some believe, or to another dimension, as others believe.
No one is coming back to tell us which it is, so you have to make your own decision.
3. When you reach the gates of heaven, there is a book called Book of Life. In the book is the name of everyone who has died and is going to die.
They open the book, see if your name is, or is NOT, in the book.
If your name is in the book, then you are allowed to go thru the gates into heaven.
If your name is NOT in the book, then angels carry you to a lake of fire where your soul is thrown in, and your SOUL dies.
Life is confusing. Hope this helps.

I think your BASIC PROBLEM is that you have been listening to, or mostly hearing about, the many HYPOCRITES out there especially in Christendom... those are the ones who always claim to have the right answers, appear self-righteous and seem very knowledgeable by endlessly citing Biblical texts, more often than not, extracting the wrong interpretations for their own purposes.
Some insist that ONLY THEY have the answer, or know the "truth", or claim to belong to the "true church", and that non-members of their church will automatically "GO TO HELL!"
But most of them --even now as we speak-- remain clueless and don't realize that THEY HAVE BEEN MISLED to believe in the FALSE DOCTRINES given them by their Sunday preachers, many of who are mere charlatans or FALSE PROPHETS who are laughing their way to the bank every Monday morning!
Among such FALSEHOODS that is being taught by some is the doctrine of "Once saved, always saved." This teaching CANNOT BE TRUE since it gives FALSE HOPE [some even cast it as a "sense of security"] TO BELIEVERS to thinking that they will have salvation EVEN IF THEY CONTINUE TO SIN, once they sign up!
While I concur that there may be certain 'discrepancies' found in the Holy Bible, as we know it today --the reasons of which I have discussed at length in my prior answers-- it would GREATLY BENEFIT YOU to read the Bible in its entirety. Do that more often RATHER THAN giving an ear to the same people that you have been used to listening thus far.
You will find within the Holy Bible, and other Sacred Scriptures, the answers to the questions that you seek, provided you persevere and maintain an objective viewpoint throughout your study.
And anything else short of that, I suggest that you try your best to follow The Law. Don't ever give up Hope... and keep the Faith.
Peace be with you.

Okay lets break down your answer -
First you refer to people following a religion as 'fanatics'. This already shows that you have some negative stereotype of people you might not know anythng about.
Next, you say so many but there have only been a few high profile cases in the news. There are billions of people claiming to be Christian. If 50 of them are doing something they shouldnt be, I dont think that an entire religion should be slammed for it. That would be as idiotic as me saying that Ted Bundy and Charles Manson were white men, so all white men are evil killers.
Next, salvation is through belief. Thats it. Now you cant be an active sinner and be saved. But if you turn from a sinful lifestyle completely, God will accept you.
Now everybody thinks that they are a really good person. Even mobsters and theives rationalized that they are doing the right things. But God wants to offer salvation to all men and women from the fate of this earth which is destruction. The new earth will no more have sin or sinners. Even if you feel you are an overall good person, as long as you hold on to something that puts you against God, sin would start all over again in the new kingdom. So only true believes who want to be transformed into a Christian will be saved

well, first of all you must remember that everyone is human and capable of doing awful things, no matter what, and secondly, everyone who calls themselves a Christian is not one, even if they are a priest, pastor, bishop whatever, remember that is an occupation, it has nothing to do with the state of a person's heart! the true test is in the life that is lived. Thirdly, we as humans like to put qualifications on sin, ie.. murder, rape, molestation and the like are more sinful then say lying, cheating, stealing. When in fact, sin is sin, and there is not distinction where God is concerned! And nobody gets off scott free, we are ALL going to stand before God one day and give an account of our actions while here on earth, EVERYONE!!! And as a believer, and not wanting to quote from the book since you asked me not to, i will say that i don't believe that there is such a thing as a good person! we are ALL sinners, myself included, therefore, we are not good people. the difference between a saved person, and an unsaved person is forgiveness, REAL Christians are not perfect people, just forgiven people. And i say REAL Christians because again, not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is in fact a Christian.

Here's the sad fact - Christians are human too! There are lots of people who struggle with BIG problems (as we would classify them) who really do believe in God. This doesn't change the fact that they are doing wrong and I would hope that those who do these things repent and seek forgiveness and restoration. Claiming Christianity doesn't give you a license to "sin" - it just gives you forgiveness when you do. Just one little quote so you know that the Bible doesn't endorse this behaviour:
Romans 6:1-2 - "Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?"
In terms of the priests, the Bible never states that celibacy is a requirement for those in service, so making this a requirement for Catholic priests has just invited problems. We are sexual beings and to require someone to abstain in order to serve the church isn't reasonable. I'd be interested in knowing how or why this became a common practice. Maybe I should ask the question!
Anyway, the problem is that people tend to judge the religion by the calibre of people who claim it. Please don't make that mistake. As you indicate, it could seriously cost you your soul. Just seek God, ask Him for help and He will send it. I truly believe that.
Thanks for asking an honest question.

Believe me ,those creeps will not get off "Scott Free".From the VERY BEGINNING of the church ,in the Book of Acts,Creeps tried to come in,Both Peter and Paul had their encounters.By the end of the 1rst century A.D.,John was (as an elderly man) extremely upset about all the "false doctrines" creeping in.
Jesus said ,in the last days,"Many will come to me saying ,'Lord I did this for you or that for you',and I will say 'Depart from me you wicked servant into outer darkness' ".
Take my word from the Word, they ain't gonna' skate.
Sin is any thing we do that doesn't measure up to God's holiness. That's why we are all sinners and will be until we die.I sin every day, sometimes with out even knowing it.That's the reason we need a Savior. He covers it but ONLY if we truly mean it.These creeps can blubber and cry ,they don't mean it.What they mean is "Give me another chance,so I can scam again,I just blew my meal ticket".

Well priest are taken upon to much pressure and are very religous types in our country, but at sometimes they cant help there sexual feelings. That which had molested a child was a well known priest which now has wrecked his Repuatation. you. Lets compare it in this way: Its like you give a lollipop to a kid and he sucks on it for a couple of years, b ut at one point of time he wants something else like a Bubble Gum.
Some people who worship God doesnt mean had their Fully worshiped by others, and not all people are pure. That recent pope they put up is a bunch of Bolony. You know why im saying this because he was part of Hitlers Group and has accepted his part of torchuring and killing people. As they always : " Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover".

You won't get answers about God when you refuse to believe His Word.
I can say this (as I imagine many of the people you referenced would-and rightly so): Wrong is wrong. The very foundation of a real standard is that it applies to all people everywhere.
It doesn't matter who they are, what they did was wrong...just like it doesn't matter who we are if we don't do what's RIGHT.
I KNOW that "living a good life" isn't all it takes. I think you do too (thus all the questions), however, my reasoning and my basis will probably prove unfruitful as they are written in scripture.
If you want to know God, you have to believe. Contrary to what most people in this world have been deceived into believing, we don't get to write the rules.
P.S. NEVER make decisions based on other people. That's the thing about belief. It can't be counterfitted, faked, or cheated into. It shouldn't matter if everyone else on earth is a hypocrite...as long as I try to make sure I'M not.

Firstly let me assure you that the concept of a fiery place of torment such as 'Hell' is not a Bible teaching.
Secondly the Bible does not teach 'automatic salvation'.
Those who claim to represent 'God' or to be a disciple of God and yet perform in ways that are contrary to God's righteous standards will not receive His blessing. They will have to answer to God.
We all have free will and are able to choose which direction we want our life to take.We are all also imperfect and sin many times. But Jehovah God understands our limitations. Our goal should always be to please our Creator. He has had the Bible preserved down to our day,so that we have an 'instruction book'so to speak. The Bible provides us with guidelines, principles we need to help govern our lives so they will be acceptable to God.The Bible provides Biblical examples of what happens if we dont listen to God and what blessing may be enjoyed if we do listen and pay attention to his holy word.
Anyway, what I am trying to say to you is that you probably dont think of the Bible as a precious gift from God because you may not understand it,or have had some misconceptions about It.
Also the Bible teaches that it is not enough just to be a good person. We need to believe in God,and the ransom sacrifice of his Son,Jesus. We need to learn what God requires of us as worshippers and act in harnony with what we learn. We must also exercise faith. It is not enough when you hear someone say "Oh yes,I believe in God".Jesus said "not everybody saying to me Lord,Lord will enter into the kingdom.....but the one doing the will of my Father will"....
You see these religious fanatics may say that they beleive in God but their actions dont prove it,do they. There is much more involved in being a Chrisitan, than just calling oneself a Christian.

Without quoting the bible - just know that nowhere does it say that believing in Jesus is all it takes. As Christians should know, even the demons and Satan believe in Jesus, but it will not save them in the end. Also the Bible speaks not of hell or a fiery place of torment, but says that the punishment for sins is solely death. Since we all sin, we all die. If you believe in God, then you would have to believe in a fair and just God - one that would know more than us humans, and be able to read peoples hearts to know their true self and be able to judge one based on that. Actions speak louder than words. Each one will be judged accordingly.
