She has a pretty name and is a professional model with a good career. Why would she want to ruin it naming herself Gordon?

Well I hadn't heard that but some people do like shes a model or maybe she has a hypenated last name like Vandebosch-Gordon or something like that. Some people just don't want to take their husbands last name for other reasons and like most people take their last name but if they want to keep their own they jsut hypenate it. Some people have their reasons and I'm a die hard Jeff Gordon fan so that stumps me. I wonder did his ex wife Brooke still keep his last name or go back to her maiden name of Sealey?? That would be a mystery since she got a fortune that she really didnt deserve and I hate how people say he cheated on her when he didnt. Thats just a bunch of stupid rumors but thats what happens in Hollywood.

Lots of married women maintain their names professionally, even those with "regular jobs." There are a number of reasons to do this. If you have established a professional identity, it is easier to keep your name. (Maybe she doesn't want to be known only as Mrs. Jeff Gordon--which she is legally, regardless of what she calls hereself). Maybe she is very proud of her family nam/heritage. Also, she is an actress so her name is probably registered. I forget the name of the group that does this, but they register their names so no one else can use the same name. Example: Michael Fox was already taken by an older actor, so we now have Michael J. Fox.

Celebrity women generally don't change their last name when they get married because they are already well known by the name that they have had.

She's a model so she kept her last name for professional reasons, like name recognition. Actors do the same thing.

I agree that when you marry, you carry your new husbands last name, but it is getting to be more of a common practice for women to keep their maiden names....I guess just because they can.
