Let the 20y/o 'kid' decide. By this time they are deffinatly old enough to make this decision on their own.

I have never been able to understand why woman do these things to men :( I had an abusive relationship and still told the father.. Of course he made the desicion to not be in my sons life . I have always been upfront with my son concerning his father... He knew who his dad was even if it was just in pictures etc...

I agree with some of what people here are commenting .. Its not really your place but on the other hand, its not fair to the young lady not to know her dad..

The only thing I can say is talk to the mom and see if you can talk her into letting the dad know..Just make it casual talk and just bring in the fact of the father.. See how her initial reaction might be..If it's hostal , then its gonna be a tough call..
You may have to go ahead and do it at the exspence of losing your friend...If you 2 have been friends for this long , you probably have a good idea how she might respond....

If it was me, I would do it .. Only because I find it deceptive to do this to a child...Its not fair...She has the right to know....

Just remember that if you do do this, You are gonna possibly open a BIG CAN OF WORMS...

If your daughter knows about this situation then I'd have to say
'absolutely YES' you should tell him, but only if it's O.K with
your daughter.
If your daughter doesn't know how you feel about this then you should tell her, and between the two of you (not just you) you
can make the decision whether he should know or not.
Even the father has a right to know, and should have been told years ago regardless of circumstances between him and the
girls mother. The daughter is the one who has 'lucked out' all these years by not knowing her dad. He may have been a
wonderful father, regardless of how he was when he was younger. I feel so sorry for the daughter really.

Ok...I'm thinking that you're not the one going to tell dad. You just came here to get opinions on weather mom should tell dad or not. Am I right? Moving on...

If the child wants to know the father, then it should be her choice. Mom should make the information available and then should she decide she wants to know him, mom should contact dad and let him know. It's never too late to meet a parent or child. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but I think it's certainly worth a try.

to tell the father nothing is not only illegal but can ruin the childs life and cause a massive lawsiut from the grieved and injured parent. Consider what your doing is perhaps in your interest but definitely not the childs...Nancy Pelosi may support you but I dont.

It's too late. Anyway, that child is an adult now, so it's up to them if they want to know who their father is, not you.

Not your place.
Maybe confront the child if he/she wants to know, let the child have the control and decision if she wants this guy in her life..
