When the relationship is new, they have no trouble saying what they feel. Then, they get a little more involved, and they clam up. If they don't speak up, they might lose out on real love. Why would someone settle for less?

love is a verb. and action word and should not be used lightly. saying you love someone reflex a very strong emotional bond and just throwing it around hap hazardously demeans it.

Some people just aren't ready for commitment at that point or time in their life. Perhaps they have different ways of expressing their love rather than just saying "I love you." Getting serious in a relationship changes everything. Thoughts about whether or not they might spend the rest of their life with that person can cause them to become anxious about saying "I love you." There are many reasons they don't say it. It doesn't mean they want to miss out on love. Life is about taking chances and if someone isn't ready to say the big three words, then that is their choice.

More than likely they are afraid of their love not being returned by the other problem. I would always take the time to tell someone how I feel..it just seems honest!

People want to know that it will be reciprocated. No one wants to go out on that limb and have it break on them. It can be disconcerning when you tell someone you love them for the first time and they look at you like "yeah that's cool".

because imagine this pouring your heart out to someone and telling them that you would do anything for them and the person they tell this to says. "i don't feel like that about u". it hurts.

ur right if they don't speak up they might lose that person. but think again if u see that person everyday it would be pretty awkward. wouldn't it.

Depends. Saying "i love you" for the first time is scary because you fear that you may scare the other person away. Later, ppl just get comfortable- it is assumed that your partner knows and sometimes it's nice to hear.

they are afraid of getting hurt, they might think tht their partner isnt ready for commitment. Some are afraid maybe from past experiences....Maybe they arent aware of the feeling, some might be afraid of responsibility...etc.

Simple...afraid of rejection, afraid to be left hanging, afraid of being the only one feeling this way.
