i have always dreamed of becoming a neurosurgeon. however i find myself unlikely to get the grades to enter a medicine degree ( here in brittain) i need an AAB at least (from my a-levels) and the best i can hope for is an ABB (screwin). So what i have decided to do is to do a pharmacy degree, and then apply for post grad entry into medicine, i have the financial backing and pharmacy should leave me with a secure career in a job that i won't hate should i not get into the postgrad medicine course. i also understand what medicine involves and how serious the degree is, so all i want to kno is whether i should apply for post grad entry or not?

What the bloody he!! are you thinking mate?!!!!!!!!of course you should go on further in your studies knowledge is power and never settle for second best no one can truly answer this question for you other than yourself but then again no one can or will ever have the right to tell you you should not do this.
last i must leave you with this bit of information that was left with me by a professor that i grew very close to as he was loosing his battle with cancer. Professor Donald J. Rhomesburg he told me on his second to last day in this world "Son i have taught you allot but remember this. Do not under any circumstances ever accept the answer on NO from someone whom is not in the power to give you the answer of yes in the first place"
let me know how it goes

taking pharmacy makes sense --- it the safe way to do things, you have a fall-back as well as a stepping-stone. but then, you should also consider that this will take TIME (unless of course all the units for pharma can be credited towards your medical degree).

are there other good schools (maybe abroad?) that don't need the AAB? what makes you think that you cannot get the needed grade and that an ABB cannot get you a decent medical training? i'm sure if you push yourself hard enough (not too much though) you'll get those grades.

good luck with your choices!

I am applying to a post grad program here in the U.S. and I think it is a good idea. I don't want to be a little old lady someday thinking "gee, I shouild have given Med school a thought" I'm going to give it my best shot. If I dont get in, at least I tried and I will know it wasnt meant to be.

If you cannot get the grades, then please, by all means, do not attempt to become a neurosurgeon. Most people would want to be sure you know what you are doing before you go screwing around in there. It's amazing what doors money can open for a person.

If all you want is an answer than go for it. You have nothing to lose accept pride if you are rejected.
