I have another question regarding child support, just so I understand how everything works. I live in Citrus Heights, California and just finished court orders for my son. The father and I are to pay 50% of all necessary medical, dental, or vision expense, etc. I have sole physical and legal custody of my son and father has 0% timeshare. Judge ordered support to be paid by wage assignment and to pay $486 per month commencing on 9/1/06 and arrearage in the sum of $25.00 per month till paid in full commencing on 1/1/07. So I'm confused? Is the $25.00 like interest from the back support he was suppost to start paying 9/1/06? THat's why it's PIF aka pay in full? Just trying to plan for my son's future, because his support will go in a trust fund for him towards high school, college, etc.

You don't get interest from arrearages that are owed to you. The $25.00 is broke down to a monthly amount to be paid in full. Usually, thats paid weekly, to get it paid off asap. Hope this helps.

Did you have an attorney. Go and ask at the court. Just be glad you have sole custody. Does he get visitation? Probably not if its 0% timeshare. The $25.00 probably isn't interest as he wasn't that much behind. Just be happy you have the child full time and get support. If you are only getting $486.00 then he must not make much money. $25 a month is better then him quiting his job and you have to fight for anything.
Good Luck. Ps I'm in California.

no it is not interest. lets say he owes you back child support of $100 he is to pay $25 towards that $100 that he owes you each month until it is paid off.so thus meaning he pays you the $486 plus $25 he will have that $100 paid off in 4 months. i hope this helped.there is no interest when it comes to child support.

I wouldn't say its interest, its just arrearages made in payments.
