The lead is used to coat the wires under the plastic and is in very small amounts. You should still wash your hands after handling and not allow children to handle them.

I would contact the manufacturer. This is a guess without more info but it might be in the glass or the wiring of the lights ? I know some tines wires especially ground wires can have some lead- but its not like paint that will fleck over time and can be ingested. I have kids and I wouldn't worry about it - but if you feel real strong better safe than sorry
The following web site link is a study done and it says only harmful if ingested - so don't let them lick or eat it. www.nature.nps.gov/toxic/lead.pdf.
I am not a scientist just a mom hope this is helpful.

Keep the lights out of the kids' mouths.

Everything on Earth contains deadly substances. I'd be more worried about the fire in the fireplace.

And when you're done with the lights, "Dispose of them properly," whatever the heck that means...

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays.

Under supervision they should be safe! Just keep an eye on them and maybe place it high and out of their reach. Sounds beautiful, wish my parents would do something like that hehe.

I think you're okay as long as they don't come in contact with them. You may want to research it, though. Also, it may be a good idea not to do anything you're unsure about. Better Safe....

why would you even want anything with lead around your house with children. If it was me, I would take them back ! there are lots of others that don't have lead in them .
