when i'm on a webpage and click to view a picture the webpage closes and it leaves me with the picture without being able to go back on the go back icon

its called a web ring, and can be blocked using a pop up blocker with activated cookie controls. also check for spy-ware and a pop up like that can sometimes have a Trojan horse virus with it. Trojan horse viruses open ports to allow other unwanted info to be transmitted. companies can use them to get information about you and send you spam emails or other pop up ads. also lookout for browser hijackers, they automatically set your browser settings to go to an unwanted web page they can be deleted by running a spy-ware program and typing your own start page on the Internet properties in Internet explorer

yeah you could need to scan with some anti spywares such as Adaware 2nd addition, A Squared and another good one is Ewido. Try maybe Spybot Search and Destroy too.
