My husband and I rescued a doberman from a rescue in Rock Creek (Northeast Ohio - we live in Akron). I know it'd be a bit of a drive from Northwest, but they seemed very knowledgable about the breed and had some really great dogs. They're called North Coast Doberman Rescue. Their phone number is 440-474-9099. You can do a Google search and see what dogs they currently have up for adoption.
Don't let anyone on here tell you that Doberman's are mean. Those people either 1) don't know what they're talking about, or 2) met a Doberman who is nothing like any Dobe I've ever seen. I've been a vet tech for years - NEVER seen a mean one.
I hope this helps - if they're too far, they might know someone closer to you.

You should know that these are very high energy dogs, so unless you have atleast 45 minutes to an hour (bare minimum) every single day to walk them and train them, you're going to have your hands full with a very energetic and potentially aggressive dog.
Same goes for a lot of breeds, though.
Good luck.

Learn to spell the breeds name first. Than maybe look into a reputable breeder and some dog training.

Doberman
[cap is for proper name; named for the tax-collector in Germany who created this breed]
Pinscher [means 'biter' in German - and Euro lines are much sharper than American].
please see breed-rescue sites; there are many national-breed-resQ affiliates in local orgs.
