Where can I get birth records online for free?

Hey Jacki,

Birth records are not free, unless you stumble on someone that has already ordered a copy. You can do that on GENFORUM, for a particular surname, but you have to get lucky.

I can make it cheaper for you... You start at the TOWN, and find the office of Vital Records, call or write to get the process to order a record. I have paid as little as $4.00 for a birth record from a town. If you go to the records department and take a copy, it may be cheaper (cost of shipping, etc).

Next, go to City - slightly more expensive. County - even more expensive. Then the State in the US, and that will be about $40.00 at the vital records site below, select the state.

Record keeping costs money. That is the answer.
